As I'm crawling very slowly nearer to the purchase of a Diablo, I just wondered if any PH'ers have had any experience of a Lambo specialist based near Manchester / Preston (don't particularly want to name them here, but I guess if you have any experience of them you'll know who I'm on about).

The reason I ask is that it would be a bit silly to go ahead with a purchase, only to find out that someone had a bad scrape with them.

E-mail me directly if any bad experiences have been had... don't want to upset Ted with any lawsuits against PH.

Have you joined www.lamborghiniclubuk.com ? Would have thought that you would get some good info there.

Hi Tony,

There's a guy in the Chorley area, who is either called, or runs an outfit by the name of, Amari, who has, for a number of years, been active in the wheeling & dealing of these monsters.

Several years ago, when piloting a 928, I more or less forced hime off the road and in a fit of unfettered passion, pretty much demanded that he drove me in the Countach that he was in at that time...he very kindly obliged and exposed me to an almost religous experience, surpassed in emotive intensity only by the ensuing cacophony of Sant Agatese acoustic serration.

My host was short on fuel and proceeded to perform the now legendary 'sit on the sill & reverse' technique whilst filling up at a local pertol station, much to my additional delight.

It was such a defining moment: there I was, actually, physically sat, in a Lamborghini Countach. I was hyperventillating.

Several remortgages later, apres fait le plein and I was ready for catapult session number two.

Words fail me. It was simply paradise.

Then, as he handed me his card and shot off, I stood at the road side, static; a lost soul...numbed by the impossible euphoria of the moment.

Several times since then, I've been in Diablo mode but each time I kid myself that it's not the sensible choice; it's impossible for this and that reason but let me say this: if you've got the balls and madness, do it and realise my impossible desire.

I'll try and find his details for you but he always has a few knocking around.

Just promise me you'll let me worship at the altar if you do take the plunge. What an incredible possibility.

Come on Tony - Go for it!!!

DeR,

That's the man, Amari, I'm off to see him this week-end. From your comments at least it seems that he's been around for a while, and seems to be passionate about his cars... always a good sign.

Thx.

You MUST keep me informed of your progress: this is not an option, Tony.

If you buy a Diablo, I demand to be the first PHer to be honoured accordingly. My God, I can't contain myself at the thought of this - you must be suffering severe incontinence!

I've heard varying comments about this guy. He was in business about 10 years ago then disappeared for a few years and then seemed to start up again about 3 years ago.

Not sure I'd buy a car from him but probably OK for servicing.

At the end of the day I've heard both good and bad stories about every Lambo specialist there is (and there aren't many).

I have used Verdi's for servincing in recent years and they have been good (although probably too far from Manchester to be viable)

Have you had a chat with Jason Barker? He used to be the head Lamborghini UK salesman and has sold most of the Diablo's in the UK. I bought one off him when he was at HR Owen and found him extremely helpful and friendly. He now has his own company www.jasonbarker.co.uk

If you are able to buy one, do not hesitate!! I sold mine a year ago and regret it so much that I'm thinking of getting another Wonderful cars, wonderful noise.

JB's ok if you're spending circa £100k but the early stuff (more for mortals, perhaps?) genuinely is in the £50-£60k bracket.

Which is kind of the point, I think: pretty much THE definitive supercar for the price of a new or one-two year old 911.

Oh what the hell!

Don't forget to take parking lessons
I'm sure once you get in in the garage it will be a nice place to
And you know what happens to badly parked cars round there

I thought the real bargain on JB's site was that LHD 355 Spider... for just 43k... omygawd that does seem almost affordable

If I didn't mind the possibility of being mistaken for ninja then this would be a cracking car

Dom, Terry Hoyle or someone like that has a lhd 355 GTB for £36,500 25,000 miles on the clock - sounds like belt service has just been completed....now that's seriously tempting....

Is "Amari" this guy's real name?....I'd advise anyone to avoid any Lambo "expert" with the initials JC, BTW

Aarrrggghh, don't go telling me that, Mark!!!! That would put the mortgage seriously in danger

I will tell Scottster and that 968 will be in Autotrader before you can say 'bargain'.

And to add to your discomfort Dom, there's a RHD Berlinetta, Giallo, 37K miles on the FOC website for 43K, and a couple of LHD 355s at dealers 35-39K.

[oily]Sir is looking uncomfortable. Perhaps Sir's sphincter is in need of adjustment?[/oily]

LOL

I am trying to get Scottster to get a 355

I have got the deposit on the Ultima already, so it wouldn't suit me, but Dave has always loved 355s, has a double garage that he can't build cars in for various bureacratic reasons and a little bit of cash from a house purchase...

Great cars at great prices. I am starting to drift back to the 355 camp from the 360 one (you got me into that!) especially as a tubi'd 355 is something else...

Glad you're enjoying the 996, BTW.

Good point.

Do I hear the rumble of distant evil, 'gainst the backdrop of dark, Satanic hills?

Indeed, heard through the 'vine that Tony was spotted in Darkest Manc last weekend "testing" a black VT.....so Tony are u going to do the deed.......?
For a man whos nearly 40 , on his fourth childhood and is having his garage "altered" so he can fit the BEAST in, I will be extremely disappointed if the purchase is not made by end of April!!
And , my deliv date is April 2003.......I HOPE!

DeR/Jason, Rest assured, as soon as I have done the deal, this forum will be the first to know (even before the t&s - I'll probably let her know by next Xmas). Suffice to say, I am absolutely (99%) certain that one of Sant Agata's finest will be sitting in my "altered" garage long before Le Mans, and hopefully before Dazren's trip to the 'ring (as this would be a great event to cut my teeth on the new acquisition).
