Here you go finally got the number on Topsparks 5.5 V* rob's Engine.

Did have some crappy numbers early on on a different road and had a bit more tuning since I think.

Now close to what Rob was saying on the engine dyno - 370bhp and 430ft/lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!

All work by Rob + Emerald ECU and ACT Plenums - James will fill you in on the rest - Exhaust off a NASCAR (wellthat is what it sounds like).

Mind you you get into the whole one rollers being different to another issue!

Would love to have mine on these roller but up near Northhampton so can't be arsed.

Nice one anyway. The engine has gone to a new owner now - but the original car is getting the original lump Blueprinted with a slightly over std cam and will be for Sale Soon. Very low mileage, Spider wheel and Brake upgrade. Really looked after even though he does drive it a bit hard - but they are better this way - better than a few k miles bimbling around.

The highest N/A I knew of was about 400+ bhp in Dave Reddens 5L with the full on Taraka and other goodies. It also made 528bhp (dont know what torque) with the NOS kit we fitted.

that would have to have every RV8 mod under the sun to get near 400 from only 5litres. More than Guilotine can't see it myself.

Anyway - yep James is gutted he has to sell the engine and later the car, but making ends meet and getting new business going just that bit more important.

Have some vid of him hooning it from a few weeks back with the lump still in it - with the Bonkers Exhaust. It was funny seeing him at the Abingdon Track day in it - "I've never had to go round a bend so fast in my life - JESUS".

Think there is another 5.5 in a Chim that is making similar 370 and big torque from Rob as well.

Think (he might want to confirm) that he is not making any more though. By thetime you add the engine costs all the ecu / tuning and triple plenum stuff it get Stupidly expensive. He just want to keep up with me I think......

It is the torque that seems made! Never got to drag against Sparks when his was running right, but very close to mine, though had some roll ons when it was built but minus final tuning. Good through gears untill last 1k revs in each gear. But presume would have been even closer once fully sorted.

Pity we won't have both at LM or the ACE again............

Its been verified on 2 sets of rollers mate and did make over 400bhp with out the NOS. Its was in sprint mag a few years ago! Sorry if its not what you want to hear but its possible never the less. And yes it practically had every thing currently on the market in or on it!

Its being worked on again at the moment so who knows what comes next.

Fine by me. Could just personally not invest all that time and effort AND in one. Sparks was scared to add it all up and this one must be even more!

No one in a Griff has ever stayed with me, on the straights or in the corners. But its only a matter of time.
mine has the benefits of rev range, the right gearbox ratios and diffs (for different tracks) and the other general stuff. Bin up against daves a couple of times but there's always been some issue's with it. cracking car tho. when fully sorted it'll be close. I've worked quite closely with hime on this latest fit and alot of it is based on my experience, so his should end up in front! Nice guy.

I'm currently de-tuned (for std fuel and engine life its closer to 360bhp/380lb-ft) and with a view to Challenge Group B spec it could stay with Phills second cerby (non-boss) in a straight line to 155 on the straight at 'Ring this monster international, and Phills has all the Jools kit on it. (well done Jools its a cracker, especially in Phills hands). which stands up to expected figures.

TVR Powers blowers are the way to go, that was effin' quick full stop! thats where I would be putting my money! did several laps at spa...VERY QUICK! report at tvrmonster.com soon (plus vid!)

all the best

Time money and no cage - but I will give you a run for you money some day!

Griff will absorb cash now. Need to win lotto - finish Griff pronto, cage in Chim and maybe a Magnacharger for another 140ish bhp! (530 - 540 then!), and some wider rims.

Just chatting to ASH and he toldme how much a std Cerb weighs (something for another thread - but makes me feel a whole lot better!!!!!!

Well I have hit the 500/500 mark with my John Eales 5.2 engine. It produced 360/360 N/A and that was after we had reduced the CR to 9:1 from 12:1 and changed from a 248 to a Hybrid 218 cam. With the supercharger running, hit 500/500 at 12 psi but we have detuned it to match the chargecooler I'm using. It is a bit restrictive but does keep the air charge nice and cool. I want reliable power so it made sense to detune it. Also means I can see how the rest of the car handles it.

The current setup runs at 8 psi and is getting 450/475 but the torque curve is incredible. 300lb at 1800, 400 at 2800 and then upto 475. It doesn't drop below 400 at the red line. It has taken more time and effort than I anticipated but it is worth it. The engine is back in the car but I'm going through the car with a fine tooth comb at the moment. Plan is to redesign the charge cooler to support increased PSI and then to fit a bigger blower after that.
