PETER WHEELER ....VILLAIN
Discussion
Just read in this months top gear mag a article on motoring villains, it says about peter wheeler quote "Gruff tab smoking businessman kept TVR going far longer than necessary, to the delight of a handfull of MASOCHISTIC UNRELIIABILITY ENTHUSIASTS and nobody else. Then somehow managed to flog the whole shebag to a rich russian urchin, allowing the saga to grind on long after people stopped caring"
I can almost see him, sitting on the top of the old Cerbera mould in the corner of the shop, looking out across the still and dimmed production floor, shafts of moonlight dancing on shimmering clouds of restless fibreglass dust, the ghost-angels of the recent past. Gazing over the shrouded machinery as he strokes the head of the old white cat perched in his lap, a self absorbed smile plays the corners of his grizzled old chin. In his minds eye he ses a badge being fixed to a V8 sportscar at the end of chain of being....

Loved the bloke to bits but a lot of people really need to take off the rose tinted specs.
Flameproof suit on - do your worst

We may need rose tinted specs' but I have 3 words to say:
Griffith, Chimaera & Cerbera
'nuff said.

The truth, as is often the case, is somewhere in between two extremes. We should never forget he saved the company and produced some truly awesome and incredibly desirable cars, but he also took various decisions (like the Speed Six project) and didn't give enough attention to others (like quality control and keeping the customers happy) that led the company to the point it was when he got out. If his stewardship of the company had been all it could, NS would not have got a look in when PW wanted out; there would have been alot bigger beasts sniffing around the company. PW achieved an incredible amount during his time owning the company, but dependent on what happens next, we might end up feeling left with a slightly bitter after-taste to those halcyon days.

I loved the chim and cerb owned 3 chims and 3 tuscans, my son also ownes a 4.5 cerb at present, in your opinon what should peter have done, as i belive that the 3 cars you stated were, and are now looking a bit (dated) IMHO. Should he have stuck with the rover V8 or imported the LS6.
Peter Wheeler ALWAYS had the best interests of employees that made the required effort at heart. He still does. IMHO he is also the single biggest and best contributor to British automotive design and manufacturing since......the car was invented. Anyone naive enough to claim otherwise either doesn't know him or is a tw4t. The fact that he is now well off enough to enjoy his retirement is something that I aspire to, I'm not envious of it. He has always been demanding and one step ahead of your average tw4t that posts ill informed nonsense on web pages. He has more profound things on his agenda.

Could have had the chance to buy the rover V8 production line a year or so back...

So that's why he didn't pay his suppliers and shitcanned the very high-quality Malaysian cars and kept his employees on shit wages and let nepotism reign supreme...and gave a pink Cerbera to his mistress. Edited by orgasmicliving!! on Friday 20th October 05:28
