Weird Noise coming from Dash clocks?

Noticed a weird low buzzing sort of noise coming from behind the dash clocks. Its noticeable when the car is started, I thought it might have been air in the heater matrix BUT it makes the same buzzing sort of noise when the car is cold and the key moved to the iginition only position (not started) so it can't be the heater matrix. Does any one else have this problem or is this a fault with my speedo/rev/temp dials?

I had this for a while. I got my hand up behind the dash and had a good push and pull about (careful not to detatch the screen vent hoses) and it seemed to stop. Never really worked out what it was.

I think it may have been the noise of the rev counter cable rotating inside its sheath.

Rev Counter is electronic (at least it is on the 3R and M400) don't know about the earlier ones though

But if it was the rev counter cable then don't understand why I can hear it even when the car is not started but key in the igintion position.

I'll have to look further into it today.
