HELP NEEDED ON FUEL PUMP POWER
Discussion
Please could someone help, rewired fuel pump as described on other link.
But for some reason am not getting any power from the original live feed to pump [which is now meant to switch relay] have double checked that it`s all wired correctly, what could I have blown? Please tell me it`s not the ECU

Steve,
I posted this on nobleforums as well in answer to your question:
I don't believe there is a seperate fuse for the fuel pump. You will need to make sure you have the wires connected to the relay on the correct terminals. 12 volts switched with the ignition to close the relay comes from the orriginal fuel pump connector (coming off the ECU) which then allows 12 volts from the battery to pass through the relay to the fuel pump.
It's possible that you are using the wrong white wire from the ECU. The original fuel pump connector from the ECU for the fuel pump has two white wires. You need to use the one that was on the bottom of the connector only. If you use the other one (which is just the original ground wire for the fuel pump), it won't work. The correct one connects to the red wire that goes to the fuel pump, NOT the one that connects to the black one.
BTW, the harness kit from 1g Racing includes a 15 amp fuse in line with the power from the starter solenoid, before it goes to the relay.

Don't panic. No matter what you won't have caused major damage and I don't think its possible to blow the ECU with what you are trying to do. Check the posting on the USA forum and invest in a multi-tester. Use this to check voltage and polarity to confirm that you are connecting the solenoid up correctly. Even after you have forked out for this you'll still be quids in compared to buying one of the "kits". Remember the fuse in the circuit that is now the switched live for the pump itself.
Take your time and double check everything.

Paul, have disconnected the new wiring, so that I am left with the original + and - wires, but still not getting any power from the +
Have checked all fuses in engine bay , even the 80 amp one, the car turns over and all warning lights etc are working, just don`t know where to go from here

SORTED !!! idiot that i am, i had connected relay the wrong way.
Anyway many thanks to all those that offered advice, much appreciated, don`t you just love the internet?

Relays are a pain, I always double check the logic and tend to draw a diagram, and I've a degree in electrical/electronic engineering! Don't feel that bad about it.
Glad you got it all working.
