Having spotted Scuff and his repaired GTR, I thought it be best to rekinder the black / WHITE debate.

WHITE is clean
WHITE is smart
WHITE is modest
WHITE is fresh
WHITE is still original
WHITE is most definately the best

Yes, some cars look very good in black, there's no denying it. Murcielago, Range Rover Sport, any Bentley or Maybach (I would like to point out that although I am using Maybach as an example, I do not consider the car itself to be any good - apart from the Brabus version, possibly). In this limited group, please note that all these cars are BIG.

Ask any well-dressed larger-figured lady what colours she should wear and you will find that the reply is black! (It hides the lumps and bumps...)

Look at any model and you shall find that the prefered colour is WHITE . Granted, black will look good but if you have the figure to wear WHITE , then why don't you show off what you've got.

The same goes with cars; if it has a fantastic shape, let it wear WHITE .

You are more wrong than a wrong person from the wrong side of town away on a wrong weekend in WRONGsville. I am not saying that you are not entitled to your opinion, but that is only if you are correct, and in this case I think we may have already established a fact to the contrary.
How many times must I make this statement; BLACK IS BOSS!

I can understand how Jesus must have felt having to awaken folk and get them to open their eyes and 'see the light' (although in this case it is the dark that the blind need to see).
w h i t e may look good to some for its novelty value and the fact that it is in vogue at the moment, but will it last the test of time? I think not.
BLACK, on the other hand is timeless, suave, cool , smart, mean, subtle, in your face and the list goes on (almost as much as I do!).bandit

I don't know if you actually own an Ultima but I find the attention that the car creates to be somewhat of a chore and if the best colour makes it more stealth like as a result, it can be no bad thing.

LESS is MORE. Don't know who said it but how true.

As GTWayne and I are companions of the same brotherhood (Called: BIB, Black IS Boss), it is my inalienable duty and a question of honour to create a phalanx and draw Wayne aside when it comes to immodest affront by subversive elements of the "we-like-it-white-foundation"... So here I make my statement, shall the world hear me: BLACK IS BOSS. Hough! biglaugh [After beeing that declamatory we now proceed with some impressive argumentation]

First. White is the colour of innocence and virginity. Who on earth likes to have a GTR that stands for this attributes ? I like my GTR to be bad, evil, nasty and....I like to say "Dieser Ultima ist böse" which could be translated by "This Ultima bites"

Second. Matter of visual-impression. White does not create any reflections nor visual depth nor any brilliance. White isn´t (per definitionem) even a colour It is neutral, like switzerland. I like to act for my standpoint...

And I could come up with a 1000 more of axiomatic arguments, if there would be just one more I knew biglaugh

Wayne my fellow...There wasn´t, there isn´t and there won´t ever be a better GTR than a Black GTR!

Yes, white is innocent. But would you not want to have something that is seen as new and untouched rather than it being used, soiled and fouled... In the right context, innocence angel portrays the want of sinfulness and immorality. Couple that with the shape, look and performance of any track based car and you get a deeper psychological impression. As I'm sure you are aware, never base anything on looks alone.

he also said:
White does not create any reflections nor visual depth nor any brilliance.

A metalic / gloss finish in whatever colour creates the same reflections. This is due to the surface of the material and not the colour. The reason you may not see the relections is because it also... reflects... all the light shone upon it. So by its own accord it is more brilliant than the similar material in a darker shade of grey. (I must admit that grey is most definately for granny's! )

No I do not, I wouldn't buy an Ultima even if it was given to me. Sorry, should read COULDN'T AFFORD

and then said:
I find the attention that the car creates to be somewhat of a chore and if the DARK colour makes it more stealth like as a result, it can be no bad thing.

The reason why you do not get the attention is because your chosen colour is not impressive enough to warrant the need of mere mortals to come over. Infact, should you be able to read their minds they are more than likely muttering the following: 'There's yet another dark lump. Let's go over here and see this bright and different car.'

Gus, my friend

My sentiments exactly. Could not have said anything you have written any better myself. Most profound!!! I feel a beer coming on in some place where the mightiness and the whiteiness of the car will dazzle all those that bow before (after) it. Which is every where.

I remeber Miami Vice went from a black daytona spider replica, to a white testarrosa. That's when it went downhill. Black was cool, white wasn't.

White is characterless and should be restricted to police cars and BSM

You've only gone and proved that the darker shade of grey is only good enough for replicas. Need I say more...

The Testarossa was also a replica.

It was the automative equivalent of a white stiletto

I'm here Wayne, just didn't feel the need to defend the cause. My other amigos seemed to have everything perfectly under control with seeing off the infidels!! bandit cool

Besides the whole question over the 'coolness' of white is a pile of sh*t and as such belongs in the toilet!!! (Most of those are white too, so they should feel perfectly at home there) hehe

I consider this topic well and truly flushed down the crapper!!! Over and out.

And in case any other outsiders (white-weights) think they are hard enough - The amigos are ready and waiting!!bandit shoot

I think you will find that Black is also an odd one out and it is in fact RED and YELLOW that are king.

Yellow is for Tonka toys and Lambos

Red is Postman Pat and Ferraris

White is for Shazza in her XR3i and Lotus Esprits

......now black has no brand association......so I here by claim it for Ultima
