My experience of photographing parties with expensive kit has taught me to have somewhere safe to put it, and a knowledge of where your booze input level prevents you being adequately careful.

When your booze input level approaches the threshold, stash the kit and proceed with the partying.

I know it's not what you asked but never mind.

Its a very good point, and I'm sure I'll have to stash my camera before the night is over. Trouble is, I dont have a P&S. I do keep my lens hood on at all times though. Besides, L lenses are water/beer proofed, right

Not going anymore but I don't take the camera anymore. Gets a bit intrusive I guess and I can't really relax with it either.

Im going to resist the urge to make a cheesy wisecrack remark emma. Only because I know you're really a lady

I very much doubt i'll be going, but if I were, I'd not be taking a camera. D200s may well be splash proof, but i'm guessing Nikon's testing procedure involved water rather than wine

With the right pills, you could be Jesus and transform that wine back into water, sorted

I may just leave mine in my room (after Ive impressed the ladies with my big lens). And Im wishing I had an ultracompact as well.

Who else is going?

Guilty as charged.

I'll certainly bring the camera, for plenty of afternoon shots (at least semi-sober).

Maybe early evening too .... but kind of unsure about the night. I'll be more interested in gossiping and drinking and eating and drinking, then I will be in taking pics.

So are we going to have a BT&P competition then, for the best photo?

I'll donate a few good prizes.

Ixus i5 will be coming with me. Fits in the top pocket, IR assisted AF for low light and even I'll struggle to stuff a 2GB card with 5MP JPEGs in a night. The other toys will be staying at home.

Sounds like fun. I could chuck in a beer voucher for the winner. Mrs fish will be up for it too Shall we keep our little comp limited to Photog forum readers only, no doubt there will be thousands of pics taken by others...

Since we're all on the same table, if you both sit next to me I should be eliminated from the vast majority of shots thumbup

Define 'best' photo - cause Stacey & I could 'stage' some great ones hehe

You will be seated next to whom Sue tells you that you are sat next to

And besides, I'm sure Stacey will be moving around to take pictures, so you'll get got hehe

Not if I swap the place names around. Which I do at most weddings, when not content with seating arrangements nerd (Honestly, I wont, sue put a lot of hard work... i know )
