my other halfs boss wants to buy a long serving employee a leaving present of a dslr around the £500 mark and a printer which accepts the memory card for around £80. any opinions as it will earn her big brownie points! cheers all.

I've just got myself a Pentax K100D. Super camera, great features, VERY good price.

Can be had with an 18-55 Pentax lens from Jacobs for one penny under £450. Printers are universal and one which takes all the formats of memory card is probably the bets bet, although PictBridge is another option.

I'm looking into them and have come up with the Canon EOS 350 or 400 or even the new Nikon D80 if the budget will run to it.

1 vote here for a Canon 400D. I've just bought one and love it to bits...

Compared to my 1D its obviously not as fast but the image quality is superb and the self sensor cleaning is a big bonus...

This printer is currently on offer at Dabs

Good quality prints and a built in card reader too - the only downside is the cost of replacement cartridges (HP).
