Can anybody recommend a Porsche specialist in London that works Saturday – specifically this sat!! Need the pads changed before a trip to Bedford.
Based in West London but prepared to travel!!
Thanks CAB
Takes about twenty minutes a side, one of the easiest DIY jobs there is. Why not do it yourself?Based in West London but prepared to travel!!
Thanks CAB

Why change before Bedford? Are the existing one's shot?? If you do choose to use the garage near Bedford, make sure to take the pads with you. You can get OEM Porsche (Textar) pads at www.eurocarparts.co.uk they do mail order and aso have outlets all around London. Half the price of an OPC.

On a recent excursion they seemed to be fading more than normal (which i took to mean that they were on their way out). Will ask for a view, if they can take half a day at Bedford i will replace them on the way back. Wasn't intending to get into a debate abt pads but do the OEM's really compare?
Thanks CAB.

Fade could also be a symptom of old fluid as well as pad wear. When was yours last changed? Should be done at least bi-annually.

Disks and fluids changed quite recently (will re-check), so assuming its the pads. You volunteering to take a look. 20 mins a corner - shouldnt be too much of an imposition
Cheers
I would if you were up my way. It really is an easy job. Wheel off, remove an R pin, drift out the spindle and pull em free removing the anti-squeel shims and pad wear indicators as you go. Refit wear indicators, slide new pads back in (anti-squeel shims will stick themselves back to the pads first time you change them) replace spindle, R pin and retorque the wheels with a bit of copper grease. Job done
Almost takes longer to type than to do

RGA in Vauxhall (020 7793 1447) - always open on Saturday - speak to Bob, say I (Daniel) recommended them. You'll need to check they can fit you in.

If you are stuck then I'll gladly help you change the pads at my place on Sunday(provided it is not raining as I have to do it on my drive) - would do Saturday but am at Bedford myself. I'm in Bromley SE London. Interested then please drop me an email.

Ditto - Reading, Saturday, will do it for a pub lunch (or a full english breakfast if you're early)
