GG50 Design proposal for 2007
Discussion
Continuing the Ginetta design proposals, just for fun, here is a rough sketch of a retro based design, taking inspiration from the G12 and G16 designs .
I'm sure the new GG50 will never look like this, and will be a modern design, but if they ever decided to go for a retro design, here is my rough sketch design proposal to Ginetta..

Well done!!!!!
My garage will unfortunately never be large enough for all those new Ginetta designs you propose ;-) SNIF!
Thanks....but you can alway buy or rent a bigger garage..

I think that realistically the new GG50 will be an updated G20-27-33 design, so I will try something like that for you guys next......

Nice, and good enginebay airoutlets on top, only in this spider car the rearend engine heat escape holes could do with some other outlets? not so high? a bit more tight?

Are you going to fund this new project..

Will work on a more realistic proposal based on the current G20-27-33 design.....what do you think?
As always, you astound me! These designs are fantastic! I love this car.
I normally have a few reservations when I see sketches like this, but the most I can come up with is that I'd quite like more windscreen, but the lines may get ruined, and I'd rather have the lines than the screen
What sort of size is the engine bay do you think? Would it fit a flat / boxer engine? I know, I know! I am also a bit of a purist where the orange G is concerned and would like a ford in there, but I think modern ford running gear may be a bit tall for the target height of Ginettas - the one thing I really like about them all is how low slung they are. Fitting a flat Scooby with a tricky-dicky 'box, or just lift a Porche unit would enable a slightly lower CoG and keep the engine bay line low.

I agree with you ... that's what they need. Not just a road legal toy like the G20 (that IMHO is not their best design) but a real road sportscar like the G33/G27 with screen, doors, and soft top options. I think the "tandem" should include an affordable version (like the old G27) and a TVR/Marcos/... competitor (like the G33 was) and both models should share some lines and design details ... but with different engine capacity, power, performance, and finish.
Try to work on a G20 derivative to create a new G27 (I think LNT kept the rights for the name) that should be the affordable new Ginetta. The G20 chassis (improvement of the old G27 chassis) has well proven qualities on the road and track (G20 cup) and should make a good base.
And for the "bigger" model ... why not imagine that LNT could use the Panoz chassis and engine to create their new big Ginetta?

Thanks....but these are just rough sketch overlays, so the dimensions are exactly the same as the old G12.
By looking at pictures of the engine bay, I think that an Alfa Romeo or Subaru boxer engine should fit, a porsche I'm not sure, but could be possible. Winscreen good only for track days , polycarbonate, but for a road car you would have a new mould, or try to fit A Stratos replica windscreen..?
Remember guys, all my rough sketche are exact overlays from the pictures you see, because it makes it easier to build an almost real car, and not some fancy rendering.
I could do those, but then it would be hard to replicate for such a small manufacture with limited funds.
That is why I always base my sketches, for these type of projects, on real photographs, I only change wheels size, just to make the sketch more drammatic, and in my new GG50 sketch you have 16/17 inch wheels....useless for racing, but great to look at....

Good info guys, but need some nice images to base the new design, anyone has nice shots, with 16/17 inch wheels in their picture , that I can use, or maybe a racing version like the new GT model?
I will look on the net for some nice pictures, but will wait also for your image imput!

So then, the new GG50 will be a rebody of the Panoz Esperante!, but wouldn't this move Ginetta into TVR, Marcos territory?
I guess everybody is trying to get the TVR market, but does this make sense marketing wise? just wondering, are there enough buyers in this niche.
I guess the chassis looks really interesting but the body does need a new makeover to look as a modern Ginetta...

It was just a thought. The most expensive part of a low volume car manufacture must be development costs. Rebody an already existing, and fairly sophisticated, chassis and costs can be kept low. Or lower, probably.
Mr Tomlinson's connections with Panoz are already paying off on the track. And now he owns Ginetta. I was just putting two and two together and possibly getting more than four. He has impressed me whenever I've met him and wouldn't put anything beyond his ambitions.
But don't go by what I say.
