Hello all before I get flamed and end up in a huge why did you get one of those mailstorm. Can anyone tell me if there is a clever way to get the tip to hold a gear to do something silly like a donut? Or is it simply a case of looking for very wet roads? I managed one in Le Mans this year but only on grass.

Many thanks and flame away!

Do you have a limited slip diff? Without one, donuts are almost impossible.

Tip or not shouldn't make a difference as far as I know.

As far as I know the 996 Carrera did not come with a slippy diff as standard. Donuts won't be easy as the 911 has a lot of its weight over the rear (obviously) which aids traction.

Add into the mix the fact that you're talking about a Tip, I'd imagine that most of the brunt would be taken out on the clutch. Personally I wouldn't try it.

You've clearly been spending far too much time with Burnie!

Mostly when I didn't want it too.
