Grrrrrrrrr Just thought I`d take trev for a spin before winter hibernation. Put my foot on the clutch pedal after starting and .... nothing. Just a spongy, light feel as the pedal pushed to the floor and then returned on spring alone... no pressure from the slave cylinder.

Any ideas ?? I`m getting bad vibes from my TVR S2 manual, saying I could have an engine out job ???!! Can the slave cylinder fail just like that ? I last drove it only two weeks ago ???!!!

Yes they can fail just like that.

No you shouldn't have to take the engine out if the slave cylinder does need to be changed.

First, though, check that there is fluid in the reservoir, and that there is no leak. You could try bleeding the system and see if that brings back normal operation. If it doesn't, then it's either the master or slave cylinder.

don't stress over this job it really is easy and cheap to fix, you'll be back on the road in no time.

If seals go, they do fail just like that. Drove mine (Leics - Sheffield) no probs, return journey, clutch felt sloppy after 5 miles, got on M1 and soon only had 3 gears, by the time I got to Leics I had 1!. New slave and master cyliders worked well, no probs since. Dave

Forgot to say, bought the correct parts, they didn't quite fit, ended up taking the new inards out and putting them in the the old casings, works fine.

Thanks people ! I ventured underneath the S2, located the slave cylinder and low and behold, a huge stream of DTO4 pouring out of the seal. PHEW. I thought it would cost big bucks !! Any clue as to where I can get a seal replacement kit ? I was told the slave cylinder is a TVR made part.
