Newcastle Parking
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I have a T350C and need to park in Newcastle tonight. Can anyone recommend a good car park. I want to be near the quayside (El Torero) so Dean Street multi-storey would be the best but I am concerned about the ramps and scraping the underside of the car.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

It would mean walking down to Quayside (and uphill back again) but one of the better and reasonably priced car parks is the Gate, accessed off Stowell Street _ nice and safe, often park the liz in there) or the ncp next to it but its bloody tight access. Failing that the car park behind the Mal Maison on the Quayside is ok. Not tried the new one behind the law courts so no idea on car crime there.
Some of the guys on here work on the quayside and may be able to give you better info.

I would go for the gate one, totally secure and has security guards on-site 24-7
Yes, I know lots of people who swear by the Gate car park. You could also consider the new multi-storey on St. James Boulevard between Dance City and Holiday Inn Express (entrance on Waterloo Street). I must confess I haven't used it, but it looks like there's loads of space and it seems well lit.

Well lit, but a notorious new cop off place for the gay scene.
The gate is a good safe car park, but bloody miles from El torero and where you want to be. The one behind the Mal is good and safe too (manned 24hr) and there are always a fair few flashy cars there staying at the mal so your car won't be out of place, but it is at the wrong end of the quayside and so still a bit of a hike. Also the ramp down from the top floor (and i think the next floor too) is very steep and i used to scrape the front of my E36 beemer every time i went down from the top floor, so i wouldn't go too high up!
Personally I'd reccomend the one Multi Story on Dean Street - Its about 100 metres from where you want to be, AFAIK its manned 24hrs, there's normlly a decent selection of good cars parked there, and incase you want entertainment on the way back to the car its only a couple of doors away from the strippers!

Thanks to everyone for your response - really appreciated!
For Dean Street I originally thought about that but am worried about the ramps and tighness of corners.
For the Gate the ramps should not be an issue but isn't it wuite tight getting in there? Or should it be no problem?
Don't mind walking a bit - just want the best place for the car!

Not sure if this will all sound totally wrong after stacyb's comments, but i've used that new carpark St james boulevard car park a few times and the entrance is very tight. There is already a lot of scrapes and scuff marks on the walls and kerbs, and i really wouldn't like to take a low TVR up some of the ramps. Just a little warning....
