Discussion
Morning all.
I am being sent on a work trip to the US (Fort Lauderdale) in a few weeks time, so am thinking about a couple of things, and would value any advice.
1. It's a good excuse to get that bigger camera bag I have been thinking about, so I can hand carry all my equipment in one easy bag. Am thinking about the LowePro slingshot - any experiences good/bad/indifferent?
2. The dollar is pretty weak against the pound at the moment, so it could well be tempting to purchase some accessories whilst I am out there - I am thinking of picking up a lens or two and maybe a flash gun. Any pointers to good stores where I might do this, online may be possible and get stuff delivered to office/hotel? (I'm looking at Canon kit) I assume there are no issues with warranties and compatibility.
All wisdom gratefully received.

They have the lowpro slingshots in jessops in cambridge, go and have a look. I was all ready to buy one but when I go my mits on it I just felt it was not quite right. They are really good bags I just felt that I would not get on with it.
In the end I got a crumpler bens pizza xl, which whilst probably not as capable as the lowepro is more use for me. They have a selection of crumplers in camkins (or whatever it is called on rose cres.).
Enjoy the trip

Ah yes, I saw your thread about them, but wasn't sure which way you swung in the end. I will go and have a look at both - the SlingShot seems like a good idea, but as you say, you need to try before you buy with these things really. Will pound the streets of Cam at the weekend in search of satisfaction.

Some retailers are a bit fussy about shipping stuff to hotels or US addresses with a non-US credit card so you might need to find a friendly local work colleague.
I'll be in New York next week but I'll be trying to avoid the lure of the B&H Superstore and actually take some pictures insead !
Ive got the Slingshot 100 from my better half as a fantastic b'day present. I think it's great, especially how easy it is to swing it from a rucksack to being in front of you - they've really thought this bag out.
At first I wasn't sure about the size (I've got a (cheap) 100 to 400 lens to fit in there)) but happy now since it makes it such a doddle to walk round with all day. They do the larger one (I'm sure you know) so best see if it fits the gear you want to carry round.
I've also got a small tripod on the side too, there's a few loops and fastenings on the outside to lug more gear if you need to in the short term.
Best to try it out and see how you like it, have to say I'm a convert.
