I've seen that Porsche have re-released meteor grey as a non-special order colour.

I think that it has only just been re-introduced so consequently it's very difficult to find pics of what it actually looks like in the flesh.

Although I'm tempted by the white for a 997 I think I may have seen the meteor colour on old 911's and seem to remember it looking great, especially when the sun catches it

Has anyone any pics of a Boxster or 997 in meteor grey that I can have a look at or point me in the right direction?

Apologies for another thread on colours from me but I need to make sure I get this order right or I'll be kicking myself for a couple of years!

depends on your spec, white is great if you are going black interior with bucket seats and / or aerokit - other than that I would steer well clear unless you intend to keep car

I'm not sure - Porsche does (or has done) that many different shades of grey it's difficult to tell

The only pic I can find of meteor grey is here on an old flat nosed 911 but it's difficult to tell if it's the same....

I think I know the colour you're talking about now - under certain light it looks like it's got a tone of brown in it too??

Iv speced meteor for my turbo. I saw a piece of it next to seal and its very close. I understand it will replace seal when it is released.

I didnt see any brown in it just very very close to seal. I dont think i could have told the difference.

Go for the white, I think it looks great on the 997. If I can convince myself to upgrade to the S , I will seriously consider white with black interior.

The shade of grey that has a brown tone to it is SLATE GREY.

I have seen a new Porsche in Meteor. It replaces SEAL and is basically the same colour only ever so slightly darker.

Its abit like when they replaced IRIS blue with LAPIS blue - again slightly a shade darker.

That flatnore looks like the same colour as my BMW, i think thats Mettalic graphiet. Got a hint of purple in it. There was a 964 in the same colour at the ring this weekend.

When Porsche re-release colours, the new paints are not necessarily identical to the original colours.

Also, the silvers and greys do look different in varying lighting conditions, often picking up ambient tones.

Photographs are an unreliable method of judging any colour.

Here is my 1985 928 S2 in Meteor metallic. I have had it resprayed and the side rubbing strips removed. It's quite similar to seal grey.

Hope you like it, she's my P&J and I've only had her a few months. My first porsche and I've just done 2500 miles across the alps in her.

Cheers

Excellent - thanks for those pics.

I've put a deposit down now so my OPC are going to ring me when they get a demonstrator in in meteor grey for me to go down and have a look at before I give them my spec next month - think I've just about sorted it out!!

If the meteor grey is the same grey as those pics then that's the colour I'll be going for

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful replies to this thread
