Commonly, your disks should last two sets of pads.

Slight lipping is normal and does not mean that you need replacements or skimming.

You really need a micrometer to measure the total disk thickness to decide if they really need replacing or not. Some people will try to persuade you to replace the disks if they appear to be slightly corroded onthe surface through lack of hard use!

there are lots of specialists on the web, design911.com will supply all OEM parts, the cost for all round pads, disks, shims and sensors is around £500 incl VAT

I understand that the job itself is extremely easy to complete.......although I dont think I would have the balls to fiddle with the brakes of a 177 mph car.......

www.eurocarparts.com

Disks are under £100 each for the fronts, less for the rears, pads are around half that an axle.

Fitting is a doddle

www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/projects/brakes/change_rotors/

Took me on my first attempt 1.5 hours per axle, second attempt 45 minutes.
With no previous experience of anything.

Total cost per axle around £250.

I bought discs and pads for my 996tt from euro car parts and they are genuine Porsche, they even come in Porsche boxes, and very cheap.
