Just out of interest how much are the factory quoting?
If anyone's interested Plans have just done a mod on my car that gets around the problem with not being able to track the car below the 1/4 full mark. You get no fuel surge at all and can run the car right to the bottom of the tank.

Hypothetically speaking - would doing 150mph in a 2.5 on a standard fuel pump be a bad thing to do?

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the state of the wiring and fuel filter. If either are not 100% tip-top then you might have a problem at some point. If they are tip-top, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Paul - you wouldn't be using a swirl pot by any chance? - Ray West was toying with the idea of fitting this to mine....
Swirl pot or header tank whatever you want to call it. Ask Plans about it all. Theres a pump that pumps fuel into the swirl/header and then another high pressure one that pumps from that to the fuel rail. Simple, sensible and effective.
