Anyone know for sure when these appeared and what they were fitted to? Were they an option or standard fitment on certain models? Were they always powder coated (apart from logo detail), or left bare sometimes?

Any info/views appreciated

had these cast badge type on a 96 chimera 4.0,
didn`t really think about it until I saw your post, but now I think about it the other/later (99) had just the old stick on badge that falls off!
a friends griffith (93) and his 4.3 chimera(92) has stickers.
but mine could have been fitted post factory as it was two years old when purchased.

That seems to confirm they were an early 90s feature.... wonder why they stopped doing them, always thought they were a nice touch?

probably penny pinching, why cast your own when rover probably had ton`s of standard ones left and needed to shift them,as they knew by then that the v8 was due to be dropped.
