Hi all,
I go away on business for a couple of days and the thread I was posting on has been closed...god knows why...
Anyhows, I've just had a read and found this answer to my post..

Having owned many marques I DO understand "soul".
In the 90's my Lotus Elan SE didn't like the damp and refused to come out of the garage to play...My Boxster that followed WAS soulless compared to the Elan, and I swiftly moved on to my Ferrari 355, was a spoilt bitch, who would not only run and drive without fault when it suited her, but also cost me a lot of money... so had to go...
That leaves me with the Audi TT (don't even go there), Lotus Elise (full of fun had soul) and now my 997s
This is the crunch. As far as I'm concerned the 997 does have soul...
But, without sounding like a guy who's waiting for the white coats to turn up, how and what gives a car soul? Can you define this?
I'm sorry to choose this forum for this, but looking at the past threads you all seem most emotional about your cars...

Yes, we are very 'close' to our cars here. And that's not just Nobles either.
Most of the people here are passionate about anything with an engine, and in Gregs case it has to purr too.... but i digress
To me soul is a personal thing, a bit like buying hifi speakers. No 'one size fits all'.
So, if you feel the 997 has soul, and you can feel it deep inside, then brilliant. You have found a car to fall in love with.
In that case I suggest you don't have a go in a Noble. You might find you want a mistress

On the other hand, you could buy a car with soul, a Noble. But that means you also require a personality.

Soul ? its certainly an interesting thing to define - but i guess we love our nobles because they spark emotions and excitment in us - I only have to sit in mine and i feel a sense of achievement - you know the car has something there to give
driving it slowly brings lots of attention the sort you would get from a Lambo Countach, young lads swoon and stare in amazement and so do lots of older grown up guys too ! Women love the car too, they think its pretty and want to pretend to be interested in the engine, Wish i had one when I was single ! At the petrol station strangers take photo's and chat over it with you ! sometimes you get people who won't look out of principle because your car is better than thiers, you just know that they are dying to have a good gawp but the Noble is the underclass and can't be acknowledged, its far to annoying a budget pocket rocket can humnilate their mega bucks pampered penis extension - but thats not what owning a Noble is about, its not about envy. Its about making people smile and laugh when they see it
Driving it fast brings delight to the senses - the noise, handling and G forces serve to stimulate you and your heart starts pumping faster - then your head reads the feedback from the steering and brakes and you start to be able to push your own boundries becoming a better informed and precise driver - its really rewarding to drive
There are so many things about the Noble that make it full of Soul - but the truth is the whole experience is down to Lee and his team that designed the car
I guess to find out why the Noble sparks so many emotions we need to understand what motivated them to buld it in the first place
997 -please get yourself a test drive and see what its all about
