Nearly Spun the M12 today !!

I popped down to West Tuning today to go and see Ray

he took me out for a squirt in my Noble and got a great slide coming out of his place

I decided that when I left i would give it a go too - looks fairly easy and controlled

boy how wrong was I - it oversteered like a bitch and nearly threw me in a ditch ! - A bit of opposite lock and i had it under control but i think its fair to say i won't be trying it again in a hurry

I can now see why Ray West was a very sucessful touring car Driver !!

did you by chance tap the brake? or bad surface?

the surface was very bumpy and lots of loose gravel - it certainly broke away quite quickly

I will second that suggestion...done 3 days with Andy...well worth the money, though the surface is a bit harsh on the tyres. Plus he loves Nobles. :-)

He liked my Noble so much I let him show us how it should be done.

Drift heaven!! he did break a ball joint and crack a hub though

Do you have a open diff as I still have and find it very easy when pushed to get it oversteering?

For those who have a LSD, is this harder to do? And does the LSD induce more understeer?

It does, but not a great amount.

Mike, good to see you're ok and no damage to the car. It has been fairly damp today...I had a hairy moment myself when picking the car up from Gary's.

One needs to be careful...need to keep the noble representation nice and shiny for the next tunnel run!

I ran my m12 with an open diff for many years. With the open diff it was very nutral, and very little understear.

I had a 6speed and LSD fitted last year, and to be honest I have only just got used to the understear.

A few track days have helped my find the limit, but it can still be unnerving.

However, after breaking 3 diffs I can say that moving over the the LSD was a good move in terms of longevity, but in terms of dynamics it now feels somewhat blunted.

So yes, the LSD will make the car handle somewhat differently.
