OK, I Dont want to go into all the details as I was the subject of a front page article in the local rag last weekend and must have recounted the story over 30 times to make sure people got the truth rather than the fiction printed as usual in the paper, I am prety happy with my head in the sand at the moment and trying to keep it all together. paperbag

Sufice to say that I had a minor disagreement we a dry stone wall at nnn??? MPH. The Insurance company have just informed me that the engineer has inspected the car and it has been classed as a Category 2 Total Loss. They went on to say that because the car is a TVR, that the engineer is having trouble getting hold of prices and quotes etc which sounds promising.

What is a "Category 2 Total Loss" Anyone know.

BTW I am OK pysically, however mentally I am still thanking my lucky stars that I almost killed my car rather than the other way round. angel

Keiran - if the insurers have already classified the car as a category B then they have aleady decided not to repair and if, you do not have an agreed value policy, will be preparing to make you a settlement offer based on market values.

The difficulty they are probably experiencing is that in respect of TVRs with lower production numbers there is less of a pool of comparable cars against which to assess common values for replacement.

My best advice would be to gather as much information as you may have on file or from club advice and other classifieds to support your assessment of the cars value as insurers rarely offer what is hoped for initially. If you can provide supporting evidence for your valuation or the settlement figure you are seaking, the stronger your case will be.

Best wishes and hope all goes well.
