There seem to be ever increasing numbers of people following the WRC and giving up with F1.

How do you feel about this...

Is the WRC becoming the new F1?

do you talk about the GTs and F1 or the GTs and the WRC down the pub?

My feelings...

TV coverage of the WRC is excellent, the build up is great, (well done to channel 4, hope they can do it with the GTs this year) it lasts longer and the cars are more recognisable and are more public friendly, as we see them every day. The racing is a lot more exciting, as opposed to playing follow the leader that is F1. I know that F1 is "the pinacle of motorsport" but lets be honest, it is getting boring, they cant bump or be generally be aggressive to one another anymore due to the self destructing open wheel layout, and their hair styles.
And in any case an F1 car is an aerodynamic disaster, 90% of drag is caused by the wheels! Hardly the pinacle of going as fast as possible.

All the most recent deaths, drivers and marshals in F1 have been caused by 'flying' wheels, and all this because people apparently prefer F1 cars to look the way they do. Try telling a grieving widow that her husband died because F1 cars look nicer that way. Theres nearly always a second chance for most cars in the WRC. When was the last time you saw an F1 driver strap his rear damper down, with a ratchet belt?

I think the WRC is going to be the new F1.
