My 996 C4 is due its service next week and I'm pretty sure it needs new disks/pads. As it's going to my local independent and am not constrained by having to buy Porsche parts, can anyone suggest what would be the best replacement parts? I don't venture onto the track with it but I do like to drive with "spirit"

I would still go with the OPC discs but you might want to try Pagid Orange pads, particularly if you want to do any sort of trackday. That having been said the Textar pads from Eurocarparts are the same as OPC items(but much cheaper), will be more than good enough for any spirited road driving and won't squeal like pigs when cold.

Yup, another vote for Carnewal, and if you happen to know anyone in Europe with a BFPO address you'll save some tax as well.

Textar are the OEM manufacturer for Porsche IIRC. Same parts, different packaging.

How do you know you need new pads/discs? Minimum tolerance on pad thickness is 2mm IIRC.
