in North Yorkshire yesterday, travelling through Swainby. Looked lovely.
Am a Noble owner of over 2 years but don't have an open top car as the caterham I built is back in the South West.
Are there any can-am owners local to Middlesbrough or nearby in North Yorkshire I can chat to about building/ buying?

Thanks tuxman, fortunately or unfortunately will be in Canada from Saturday for 2 weeks; and Donnington a favourite circuit.
If it's ok I'll pick up on this on return. Would ideally like to build one, with the Caterham the build was as much fun as the drive. Only slower. And Jan to March build so lots of coffee/ thermal underwear used. Need to sort out key elements of the spec and then not deviate (much).
I missed the factory open day which is a shame.

Out of interest, is there a limit to the power which a can-am should take versus a GTR? I've seen some serious power levels for GTRs together with world records but not seen this associated with can-ams! Maybe haven't been on this forum enough.

No, no limit. The factory recently completed a 720hp build for a customer.
That's just insane!!

That may change when CanAm Dave gets his car back on the road!

Thanks for the vote Greg.
Only a few weeks till it's back on the road. I'm aiming for 650BHP. The Procharger will be giving me low boost till I've run the engine in then up it will go till a hit my target.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on Dave. Been keeping an eye on your website and that car of yours sure is looking pretty trick - some neat engineering going on in that engine bay!

What do you mean Stig?
Err.. isn't it self evident?
720hp in a car is a lot. Mine only has 400hp and it's more than enough for the road. 630hp was gloriously irrelevant.
God knows what 720 is like - especially in the Can-Am.

So IYO is something like the Veyron for example, with it's 1001 bhp on tap, totally crazy mad bonkers insane?
I think it's gloriously irrelevent. A triumph - but has been engineered to be drivable by the ham-footed individuals who are sure to buy it, aided by umpteen driver aids. A 720hp Can-Am won't be quite so accomodating to driver-error shall we say. It may have the potential to be 'crazy mad bonkers insane' - but you don't have to drive it like that do you.
It was just a figure of speech Wayne, 'insane' in a good way - like 'whoa - that's insane'. You can put whatever power plant you want in an Ultima, that's entirely personal choice.
Not sure what you're trying to get at or are you just picking fights because you're bored?

Not at all Old Bean, perish the thought. Things are a little quiet I grant you but bored, Me, never! It is just that when I have a little time to myself I find that my mind wanders and I just had your 'insane' remark niggling away and wondered if there was a deeper meaning to it that is all. If I have what may be considered a pertinent question for you, there will be no subterfuge for you to decipher I can assure you. Unfortunately, that is one problem I have found with communication medium such as this, an often innocent question can often seem sarcastic or condescending: That is not me.

Where in Canada? We have the US Ultima gathering next weekend Sept 21-24 in Chicago. If you are not too far, feel tree to stop by. There should be at least one Can-Am there. See the post on the USA gathering or reference the agenda below if your travels allow.
