Chassis paint

My S3 has a red painted chassis. Does anybody know the type of paint that may have been used and from where it can be bought?

If it's the "original" then it's not paint, it's plastic. I think they were dip-coated originally. What happens is that when the plastic gets chipped, water gets under it and flakes off the coating (and some of the tubing, eventually).

Red hammerite is a pretty good match for the original colour but you have to get the loose coating (at least) off first.

Of course, if the chassis has been painted already, a previous owner could have used anything from Post Ofiice enamel to POR-15, you just don't know.

You could be correct about the Post Office enamel. It looks very much like pillar-box red.

Hammerite smooth red is that colour

When I stripped my old S3C, I used two coats of red oxide, and 3 coats of red hammerite...It looked ok.
