Drove it back to back against a GT3 Porsche at the same dealership and im torn which one to go for. I guess bang for your buck its got to be the noble but I will probably use it for some long distance motoring abroad and can"t help thinking that the gt3 will be a better car. HELP......
One issue to consider is that there are hundreds of Porches every ware you go (GT3 an exception but most people will just look at it as a porsche). Drive a noble and you will have poeple asking you about it, taking pictures and stopping traffic just to look at it.
Also my mate had a GT3 for 4 months then wanted to get married sold it and lost 17k. (it was already 2yrs old when he brought it) so less to loose on residules.

What do you mean by long? The M400 for me isn't great after 2-3 hours, and I need a stretch of the legs. However, I've never really been happy in any car apart from the X5 for really long driving stretches.
Other Noble Owners have driven for 1000s of miles without a complaint, so it's a bit down to how you are made.
Apart from that the M400 is a lovely cruiser with it's long 6th gear and bagloads of torque, but IMHO the 3R is a better one as the suspension is much more compliant and is more suited to motorway driving.
However, if you are considering a GT£ instead of a TTX50 then I imagine comfort (ride) isn't your number one priority???

Tony, I've got both (M400 and GT3 Mk2) and also had a GT3 MK1 CS for 2 yrs before.
No probs with long distances abroad in M400 - driven to Spa and back in mine from Glasgow with no discomfort. Been 100% reliable too over 1yr/5k miles. Great cars and great value for money used IMO.
Certainly get more looks in Noble but that's not what I want for my daily hacking about, which can get away with in my relatively discrete GT3. The M400 was a weekend car for me but just as easy to live with, in fact a lighter clutch than GT3 if city driving a lot.....like me. Doh!
GT3 slightly nicer place to spend time in interior wise but I always thought the Noble cockpit ain't a bad place either. Far better than many people say.

J, to france / belgium touring maybe, I have TVR"s also so am used to a hardish ride but having never owned either of these marques before I am unsure. A mate has a new 997 and highly recommends it and I also know someone else that had a 3R and had the engine replaced twice within 4500 miles !!!
If I go in with my heart, then the porsche wins, but the noble is just...mind blowingly quick for the road and I am really taken by it. Both cars are on a "54" plate, both black, but there is a 10k difference in price. Don"t get me wrong, money is not an issue here I just need to be able to justify my choice. Still bloody undecided......

If you've owned TVR's you'll find a Noble a very good choice.
For a start it's got soul (just like TVR) rather than tutonic efficency. A bit like Mr. AL001, I've got both choices covered with the M400 and the X5.
Passenger space isn't good in the Noble (legroom is seriously small and with the vertical wall at their feet isn't that nice a place to be) but if you can get comfortable (I just think I am built slightly strangely...) then the Noble, IMHO, is the more emotional car.
If you are looking for that feeling when you close your garage door that just makes you want to open it up again for one last look, you just have to choose the M400.

Joust, I do agree with your comments. We have a new ML Merc coming in 4 weeks so that covers the daily runaround and whether I go for the GT3 or M400 these will predominently be used as weekend cars. The noble is winning right now but I am still not 100% sure...

I wouldn't say the GT3 and X5 are comparable cars though.

Ask anyone here and they'll say M400, ask anyone in Porsche section and they'll say GT3......Confusingly, I'm saying they're both great.

Yes, you can get a six piece luggage set that goes behind the seats, on the parcel shelf and underneath your knees (3 each side).
You can get a weeks worth of clothes in them with some careful packing, and a weekend is a breeze (we normally just use the two parcel shelf ones and one behind the seat for a weekend.

Perhaps the thing to look at is whether you prefer normally aspirated or turbo. I had a M12 GT03 & now have a GT3 and for me the GT3 has more appeal. Amongst other things, I just love the delivery and charisma of a normally aspirated engine. Both cars are fast enough (imho).
Remember you can always change your mind in a year and swap to the other one so may as well get whichver you fancy and don't get too hung up about it

I drove mine from Marbella to Bordeaux without stopping (except for gas), then next morning drove to Le Mans. Four days thrashing at LM followed by a brisk drive to Paris and then back to the factory. If I hadn't had to put gas in it then it would have been perfect
Mines been driven twice to Marbella from the UK and has never missed a beat on route. Porsches are for pussies.(Dan ) Martin.
I used to use my M12 to drive to work (Paris France!) each week, for about a year. It took less time than flying, and it was much more fun.
Some have said that it's not good for long trips, but I've done over 12 hours in an M12, and not felt any the worse.
If you use the Noble fitted luggage there is more than enough room for two people and a weeks worth of clothes.
Most weeks I would take the M12, although I used to use my Venturi when I fancied a change.
GT3 or M400, well it's a tough choice and love them both.
It would have to come down to personal feelings, and suitability.
