what a great night to own a ultima been out to a car club meet had a great blast there but coming home was awsome pitch black just the glow of the dials and the wail of a v8 ,bloody awsome went miles out of my way to get home had wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd engine felt so much crisper it crackled and flashed on the overrun absolutly fcking brill , made my hands shake .going to get a drink now !! ultimas rule . simon

Hi Simon

I'm really jealous! I havn't been able to drive mine for eight months now. But not long now! It won't be ready for Donington but I hope to fire it up the weekend after 22nd, 23rd Sept. Fingers cossed till then! The sump is full of oil and jerry cans are at the ready! Supercharger goes back on tomorrow, and I can't wait to hear it scream! I feel like it's finally coming together. Roll on sunny Autumn Days. I plan to take a week off once it's running, to do some mapping and get a 1000 miles on the clock. Then I will up the boost and re-map and hopefully hit my goal of 650 BHP.

Watcha Dave, how are you? Obviously I have been following your project with interest as although I did not want to go forced induction with the GTW, I am a fan and have a blown BMW, and boy do they work well! The one real positive of using forced induction in the Ultima is that it is more gentle on the drive train IMO and if the car has an Achilles heel, this is it. One thing I would like to know is on what basis have you deducted that you will hit your target power figure of 650bhp?

Have been out also and would agree with Simon. What a great buzz. Took an ex army friend with me who is Bike mad and a complete loony on one. He didn't need a "Reach tooth brush as he had a flip top head" You'll understand if you remeber the advert. He was grinning from ear to ear and all he could say was "Holy Fcuk". Is a great buzz, ear spliiting, rip roaringly great (whatever the colour. Went the long way round jut to stay out a little longer and feel the herd of horses stampeding behind me.

Hi Wayne

It's all guess work at the minute. Joking really! I've built many chevy engines over the years incuding a 510 cubic inch Rat with over 900 HP. Hopefully with the strong and well balanced bottom end I've built, and the JE heavy duty inverted dome pistons giving me a compression ratio of 7.76:1 I can add plenty of boost! The Pro-action 23° aluminium lightening race heads with 228cc inlet runners should allow the engine to breath really well. The Holley inlet manifold has been modified and ported to match the heads. The throttle body can supply enough air. The injectors are big enough. The Comp Cams camshaft has been picked for the job. The supercharged air is chargecooled by water and by my secret weapon. A friend of mine has built a similar spec motor and he got 671BHP at 18psi boost without a chargecooler.
In reality I'll just have to wait and see! But hopefully I won't be to far wrong!

I'd love to see the spec list on your motor Wayne?

Yep, cool air makes huge difference, like water injection. Autumn driving is good fun. I used to get the buzz with my 5.0 TR8 turbo soft top. Sit in there, get instant adrenilene, leg shakes and crank it over, what a rush when it fires up!! Then nurse it for half mile or so till the fluids warm up. Summer nights were always the best, long distance cruising, guns and roses stylee I remember my best drives clearly.

Did you know a TT lsx fits into a tr7 easily as does the 6 speed One day!

Thanks chaps, a TT blown 5.7 engine's been built ages ago, LS1 6 speed box fits the tunnel easily as does a thunderbird 8.8" axle. All in a humble TR, he he Downside is I sold it all to a customer with a very special track TR8. He know's what he's doing! Upside is he paid me.

Good side is I know how do do it for me when I'm ready and it must make 9's as that's been done with an rv8 based TR8 before. Come on you ultima's, get a move on. Forget the factory twaddle

I've got bits of yellow fibreglass lying around the garage and a supercharger to fit there instead! And the latest addition to the project is hidden inside one of the side pods! It's my secret weapon!
