Marham track day
Discussion
My Sport hit 160 on the 1 mile part of the straight.
I went on the Saturday. My car was a bit of a handfull on the very wet track, spinning a couple of times on the wet corner into the straight. I couldn't master it but only 2mm of tread left can't have helped. In the dry though, much better, what a blast, what a fantastic car. Only having one tank-slapper and that on my last lap of course. My brother summed it up by saying "if the previous owner had told you that you'd soon correcting oversteer at 90mph you'd not have believed them".
The 500bhp Audi RS6 estate shot past on the straight. Dissapointing to be blitzed by such a practical car with similar original build cost. However, the driver confirmed it wasn't much fun due to chronic understeer. One of the Diablo VT owners said his wouldn't oversteer, so he had the front diffs removed ! Money no object you see, but fair-play he drove it properly.

Funnily enough, I am having some glass fibre work done at the moment by a fellow who makes, wait for it, Septic tanks! what are the chances of that, I ask you?. Oh yeh, and coincidentally, the tanks that he makes are GREEN!!! YUK, figures (any green Ultimas out there, sorry, but as I say, YUK!!)

Well for me I always wanted a silver one after seeing the factory demo car years and years ago. Unfortunately I ran out of duct tape and could only do a fraction of my car
.
Sunday was fantastic, the levels of grip absolutely amazing, may be helped by the softer front springs I fitted last week (now 300lbs rather than 375). Only hint of understeer was when really over pushing it into a corner to find the limits.
I had a few issues on the day, mostly with stone chips and general sand blasting, but a slight misfire led me to upping the fuelling in one region which improved things a lot. What else; my tacho drops out on the main straight every time and my speedo was sticking at 160 to 165 even though the car was still accelerating. Tyre wear, well may be one more trackday and that’s there lot (7500miles so far, 92 of them on the runway).

Instead of using all that tape (and very nice it looks too?), have you thought about having a track day only front clip, damage incurred would not be such an aesthetic problem then?
The problem then is the pain of having to take it on and off.
Why not consider having a vinyl cover custom made for the front like you used to see on VW beetles. If it were realy easy to fit then it could be shared at track days.

Of course, it is always good to see an Ultima in action, but I ask you, a green one!, I guess you could always paint itBLACK.
What's wrong with a green Ultima?

Nothing at all! A great shade of green that is
To be honest, an Ultima would even look good if it was pink with yellow spots !
All this talk of colours reminds me of my wifes' taste in cars. When I bought one from an auction about 15 years ago, I rang to let her know how I had got on. The first thing she asked was, "what colour is it?" Never mind what type of motor it was!!
