Currently in the market for a 993 and spotted this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dl

Are these Porsche OEM wheels? They look familiar to those on the 3.8 that 911 Virgin had for sale until recently and to those on a 3.8 I saw sold in the PH classifieds a few months back. I'm not sure whether they're OEM or aftermarket though. Anyone help?

It's a bit leggier than I would like at 125,000 miles. Yes, I know I should put this to the back of mind and buy on condition! I suppose it only works out at 12,000 miles a year. It's a bit of a longshot really as I won't be able to get to look at it before the auction ends and the guy is supposedly emigrating next week so needs to sell quickly - but the wheels piqued my curiosity anyway.

Sport Design IIs were an OEM design I believe

look nice but must be a right pain to clean and expensive to refurb (which it says these need)

Hi there

seen a few 993 with these on and alot of 996 C4 with the aero kit on and also GT3 996....seen these in a main dealer from a very early age so i would guess they are Genuine porsche wheels..unless hes got a copy set of them ..

Yep - had them on my 996. They look superb but really are a b*****r to clean.

I believe they can be dismantled for refurbishment, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem provided it's done by a specialist with the right experience. It's only the lacquer which needs doing anyway according to the advert.

I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage. Buy on condition, for a decent price, and get it inspected before parting with any cash and you could potentially have a great car there - it certainly looks good from the photos.

looks like a nice car in the pic's, seen a set of those sport design II alloys go for 180 pound on ebay a few days ago, which also needed a refurb. . . .

one thing I would query, the spoiler looks like it has had the "dumb ass" mod and appears to be open on all the pics.

Cheers all. I'm used to only seeing 17" Cups and sometimes 18" Turbo alloys on 993s, so wasn't sure what to make of these.

There is also a 17" one piece version of those wheels which I've been looking for ages ... so if anyone has any suggestions ...

BTW, I think those wheels are the absolute dogs nuts, difficult to clean or not.

at the starting price, with no reserve, I'm rather taken by it myself! Bit of a bugger on the timing but could have gone for that (if the wife weren't standing behind me commenting on the house extention )
