A very horrible rumour is bouncing around that next years Le Mans race will not be at Le Mans for some reason (circuit closed for major work next year)and will infact be held at Magny Cours!! Anyone know if there''s any truth in this!!

If you look at 'latest news' on the maisonblanche website David Legangneux tells us that there are plans to change the Le Chappelle corner of the Bugatti circuit. That's the right hander that takes you off on the Bugatti from the long circuit. He says it will take 3-4 months this winter, and perhaps change the main circuit. It's a funny corner as you get a lot of speed down the hill (if you've got the chicane right!) and there's not much camber to help you in the corner because it would make a big bump in the long circuit just before braking for the Esses. Not good idea! So it takes some getting round cleanly... Maybe there's been some 'chinese whispers' with this story..... Spin

I know! LM2002 qualifying is provisionally set for the first weekend in May, as usual. I've gone over a few times in the past as it's been more fun, and much less busy. There's a similar problem with the Historic Le Mans race which was set for July 19-21, even on the official website. Now it's set for 21-23 Sept, as we're told they had problems shutting off the long circuit in July.... You know what the ACO is like (allegedly!) Spin
