First of all - thanks for all your helpful comments on my questions on GT2s lately.

Now I have found a GT2, its a 2004 car, but it is the comfort model and I had always intended to get one with bucket seats to suit the whole styling of the car and as I intend to do some track days. Anyway, on the road the seats were comfortable, kind of ideal for the road.....BUT my test drive was done in a complete storm of rain and so it was hard to really use loads of power.

The question is, without bucket seats will this car be less desirable when I come to sell it and will I personally regret not getting one with buckets? I am considering sourcing some bucket seats myself in addition but this could be costly. Its going to be my only car used most days. Speaking to porsche and this dealer they have both advised me that most people find the bucket seats hard to get on with and prefer the leather sport seats.

And while I am here is there anything else I need to look out for? I will get the car inspected but the spec seems decent. Its got a full carbon pack but not the carbon wing. No sports exhaust, whats the recommended upgrade here, tubi? Are there any other upgrades that are recommended, its already producing 530bhp after a trip to DMS.

Thanks

Dave

Yes, get rid the DMS and fit a proper Porsche tuner kit(like RUF, RS Tuning, Manthey, Techart) with the correct exhaust, correct ALL NEW software to go with it, not a software designed from the OEM base with no other tool than a computer screen/keyboard bumping up XX% of boost, fuel and timing.

Other than this the good thing about a GT2 (unlike the Turbo) its spot on straight from the box so you MUST be very criterious when modifying this car specailly what a new engine costs in excess of £30 000.

I am so not mechanically mind so can only go on what I read, discuss with others etc.....but don't Specialist Cars of Malton use DMS? Which would suggest they are pretty decent???

Whats aftermarket exhaust do you recommend then?

Anyone know where I can get some bucket seats?...

I've had GT3's with both type of seats...

For daily driving, I prefer the "comfort" sports seats - just makes it less hassle to get in/out of.

For a weekend/regular track car, I'd want buckets - they do grip you significantly better. Found them very comfortable too (nomex cloth).

Buy G-Lock if you have comfort seats..........

There was a Pistonheads deal available.

"Decent" might be the word to describe any software that even if decent is nothing but a write over the OEM software. Mind you that for a Turbo/GT2 nothing considered "decent" has a place for it there, nothing but the best should be used on these cars IMHO.

If you're mechanically inclined use the search function on the main Porsche forums like Rennlist, 6speedonline, Rennteam, etc. If you the " I just drive them" kind of guy, buy a performance pack from Ruf, RS Tuning (or Cargraphic, they're the same), Manthey or you want a better priced system FVD. Zorst-wise please note that on this cars this element has a MAJOR role on performance and in different aspects like lag, turbo spool up, overall power, etc. The best sounding of them all and higher manufacturing quality (they're pretty works of art) is Europipe.be the gentleman ONLY do this for a living.

I have had many cars power upgraded by DMS and all is perfect no problems..

The GT2 is a fabulous machine and deserves a great amount of respect and a load of cash to maintain it properly.

You could fit a TUBI or Miltek Exhaust system i prefer the TUBI personally.

It will never sound like an F1 car as it has 2 great big turbos in the exhaust gas stream so it will naturally be quieter than a normally aspirated car but you can get some nice noices from the tubi system.

Get a short shift gear lever fitted....£321-00 fitted plus V.A.T

Finally get some intensive driving lessons on a track booked and learn how to drive 1 of these great machines.

The comfort model still comes with buckets as standard.

I can't value that car at all to be honest. A March 04 car that's not at 04 model year???? Did it sit at the docks for six months before someone registered it? Power upgrade neither devalues or increases the value IMO. Drive it and see how you feel. If I was in the market for that car I'd be thinking about 70k.

yes i think you may be right, drove it, it drives fine but assumingly it was manufactured before aug 03. I actually wanted an 04 model, but at the right price I'd still be interested in this one, I'll let you know what happens!
