Any tips out there on which Autobahn to blast thru germany on (ie which ones are more traffic free - it'll be a sat /sun)?

Going to Munich via stopover in Heidelberg (into france thru eurotunnel at calais)

Between Aachen and Darmstadt is it better to take the A3 or A61
and
Between Darmstadt and Heidelberg which one is better - A5 or A67 (which one did they use to do the land speed records on??)

Also between Heidelberg and Munich - are there any interesting cross country roads (probably bored of blatting along the autobahn by then...)

cheers

A5 just outside Frankfurt Airport. IIRC it's J23-25. You'll know it when you see it!

Most times except late at night or at first light Sun mornings it is likely to be busy, unless you hit a lucky patch.

Take the A61 because it is much less busy than the A3. The A61 is used by the dutch alot to get to southern Germany but the holiday season is now over and any left will be returning in the opposite direction to you. You'll also see signs to the Nurburgring on the A61 since it takes you very close to it, a possible distraction scratchchin

Got back two weeks ago from heidelberg,if you are coming from munich on the a6 ,come off atjuct 37and head for mosbach then heidelberg the a road is gorgeous ,fast and quiet.Park at the car park by the venicular(the hotels have cheap passes for this car park) and stay in the medievil bit.We stayed by the bridge in a top hotel tucked in the corner. The beer and food is great there as most of the pubs brew ther own beer.
