Wipers come on auto at ridiculous speed!!?? Help!

I have noticed at high speeds my wipers start to rise a bit, but after a few more mph they actually start working, I thoguth I'd knocked the lever by mistake at first, but the next few times I was sure it did it by itself, (we thought it may be an optional extra whereby it wipes away the bugs at hi speeds!! but we doubt this is the case!)
The wipers also move very heavy handedly at any speed if u know what I mean?
This is on a Tuscasn, but have heard similar things happen on other TVR'S.
I've searched thru the forum but found nothing quite similar

Slow downYou know the speed limits only 70 in this country.You don't want to go breaking that new engine either.Or take the wipers off and use rain X instead.If you drive really fast ( over 70 )the windscreen should clear itself.

well at 30 thery start flapping and at 50 they start working, did i miss a 1 out there some where?
I wax my windscreen, has the same effect as rain-x, would love to take them off but sometimes theres just too much rain and i need to use them a little bit!!
