The time has come to increase the volume on my recently acquired 997C2S.

I'm thinking of having an official PSE fitted and have one simple question. The system is described as 'switchable' (i.e. you can turn it on/off) which I specifically like. However, in having the system fitted where does this switch go in the car? Nice new button alongside my PASM and Sport buttons?

Cheers

If you have 'Sports Chrono' embodied then the PSE switchable functionality is added to the extant functions of the 'Sport' button; otherwise, a seperate button is fitted.

Just on teh right handside of the driving wheel on the dash, there are 3 buttons vertically aligned, mine is under the PSM button. It is neat.

Haven't got the actual quote but what I've seen on here before it's around £1,500 incl. VAT fitted. Sound about right?

Also another stupid question - for a 997, what are the options for exhaust ends for the PSE. I've only ever seen the standard 4 round ends even for a PSE. I love the look of the large oval/small oval that I've seen on a few 996s. Is this possible? Look good on a 997? Pics?

The 'S' models have 4 round tail pipes and the PSE gives 2 large round and 2 smaller round tailpipes instead.

Cheers Sidicks.

I had on the Porsche website and you're right - the PSE looks slightly different with the two inner tail pipes being smaller. However, only the most keen Porsche geek can probably spot that so I was hoping to really stand out with some funky twin oval pipes... Maybe I should look at a non-Porsche system..

...i had a 997 c4s for a day which had the switchable sports exhaust. You will find that there is very little need to switch it off. Not at all boomy even at motorway speeds. It does make it sound more fruity but not as aurally pleasing as the 996's PSE, but still worth the upgrade.

Agree - it's a noticeable improvement without being too loud. Being able to switch it off helps me to remain friends with my neighbours when I leave for work very early in the morning!!

do look at Tubi's as well - I went down this road a couple of months ago on a C2S and went the Tubi route - lots of stuff on earlier threads on this - not much in it on price - I paid £1150 plus VAT - largely a question of how the respective sound grabs you - they do sound different - I'm 3k into the ownership experience having done 2 trips to europe and I'm very happy

if it matters to you then you can have the big ovals instead of the 4 pipe system

I also work in the city and leave at 5.45am, I do try and keep the noise level to a minimum, but the car is hardly quiet on start-up, even with PSE off.

that sounds like an OPC quote w/o the complicated stuff, ie switch and link to ECU

About £1600 including VAT fully fitted including the electronics and switch is about the going rate from an OPC.
