drove past a car at some traffic lights yesterday, a tarted up vauxhall vectra that looked like its been dragged through halfords and what can only be described as a chav spat out of the window onto my windscreen, i cant believe that people can be like that i am always happy to see someone in a nice car never been jealous of anyone in my life.

It can only be the area you live or the way you drive I'm afraid..

Hardly ever had probs in either the TVR, Ferrari or Porsche. You get the odd divvy but it's usually more funny than upsetting.

Mum and dau got egged sat in their Boxster one night shortly after they picked the first one up. They were older middle aged and just eating fish and chips on the prom in Fleetwood! That was about 2000 or so.

Never had any negative comments or reactions only positive.

Hope things turn round for you.

Enjoy the car.

I've heard this before and I can't understand it, I've only had one incident caused by a nutter who would have behaved the same way whatever I was driving otherwise, no problems whatsoever.

Are you driving slowly? Do you exude "I'm in a Porsche look at me" attitude (especially annoying if it's a boxster)? I wonder what we're doing differently...

Perhaps it's just a Boxster thing.

I never had a problem with peoples attitudes in nearly three years of Boxster ownership. IMO anyone who reacts adversly is just jealous. At least you've got a Porsche and they haven't

I had the same thing a few years ago for a very weird 4 week period never had it before and fortunatly never had it since , it started by someone shouting wan*er and throwing a cup of coffee over the car (including the cup !!!) as I was comming out a car park, then had somone spit on the car and run away and then finnaly had another guy spit on the car and proceded to shout various interesting words at me.... he was quite shocked when I jumped out of the car and ran after him !!!!

So hopefully its just a blip like mine and it will all be over soon !!!!!

Strange, I never have it whether im in the 996 or the 964, in fact people tend to wave and smile more than get cross, but i must admit its never the "scummy" ones that smile they just tend to ignore me, whether its got something to do with being a fairly solid bloke that looks like he'll do something about it or not I don't know?

It could of course just be a boxster thing

Well I have certainly experienced the downsides of owning a Porsche.

Over the years I have learned to minimise the problem by simply not taking to places where jealous ers can make your life miserable.

However: for every wanker/tosser/shithead/jealous tt I have found there's been an equivalent "Nice car, mister." moment. It really isn't all bad...

Just be sensible about where you leave it, where you drive it, how you drive it and enjoy your car.

Have owned a Boxster and Boxster S and never had anything like this. Had a chav girl get a little arsy once (pure jealousy in the shite end of Reading) but other than that nothing but positive reaction.

It must be the area you are in and so I would advise moving

i was once going down the a3 when i had my F348, some lads spat off a bridge onto the car, with hindsight it was very stupid but the red mist came down and so...

I hammered to the next junction, doubled back, when i eventually found them sat at a bus stop with some other people, I dragged the one responsible, ripped his shirt & cap off & calmly cleaned my windscreen, i then threw his clothes in a hole dug in the road, told them to have more respect in future, got a round of applause from the people in the bus stop & screamed off in the fezza.

Yes and no. When we had the old Boxster I had someone drive at me in a beat up old Escort.

I also had the driver of a 30 ton skip lorry try and race me round a roundabout and try to push me off the road. Unfortunately for the driver it just so happened I was a big client of theirs and I asked his boss if he would like me to take my custom elsewhere.

In the latest car I have so far had no problems. In fact people don't even look at it (I guess because there are so many Boxsters around now). Having said that, the bright yellow Boxster that the dealer has given me today as a courtesy car is attracting some looks, but fortunately not negative ones.

Ditto. This time last year there was a spate of negativity, in the last few weeks i've had numerous traffic light and petrol station compliments. Ups and downs, but all the negativity is always very obviously jealousy, for example the trio of builders in their knackered transit pick up at the lights about a year ago who spat and threw fag butts at my car. As soon as it went green i disappeared from their lives forever.

Don't take it personally, people who have a chip on their shoulder will try and degrade your achievement because they can't be bothered to get out there and do something themselves. Just remove yourself from the situation and then smile that you can enjoy such a car and they never will.

Chin up!

Thats Fleetwood for you!!Most people round there think Pizza Hut is an Italian restaurant.I parked my Rolls there one day outside somebodys house and my car was longer than the width of their house.
