EU Type Approval

Hi all!

I've been thinking about expoting a TVR. Only question at the moment is the that car needs to be EU Type Approved. Does anyone know if TVRs are?

IIRC they're UK SVA type approved, but not Europe... having said that, a few are sold in Belgium and Germany, but that may be down to local approval again rather than EU-wide...

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to refute this and put you on the right track!

Sagaris and Tuscan being sold here (Netherlands) on a regular basis.

And sold in Germany, Italy, Belgium and France. Contact any of the dealers for info, I suppose.

So that's the new ones sorted then What sort of TVR were you planning on exporting?

Griffith/Chimaera sold here from the beginning of LHD builds in 1993 (lots of '93 4.x Griffs here - well, not lots, but a fairly high proportion of TVRs on Dutch roads...) up until 2000/2001 (the last Chim sold here was a facelift model with faired-in headlamps) when Euro 2(?) emissions certifications ran out and the RV8 apparently couldn't be tweaked to pass Euro 3.

Actually I have two options, 2000-> Tuscan or Cerbera.

Think that the rule that now applies in the EU, is that if the car is still registered, within the EU they must allow that you import it. The authorities can make it difficult, but it should be possible.... There are several TVRs in the benelux that have never been sold as new overhere.

This is what I've heard. It should be possible and I'm going to try it when I move back home. Interesting to see how it goes...
