Needed - advice from TVR gurus!

Hi all
New to the site and in the process of getting myself worked up and excited about getting my first TVR.
I have decided to chuck in the BMW and have ridence to mega depreciation and get myself a new toy to whet my adrenaline.
I currently drive 70 miles a day - mainly motorway and some country roads, so am looking for something that can give me a grin every morning - but with some reliability...
I am looking to get a VW diesal TDI as a back-up and to opt for in those cold, cold winter days, but I seek your wordly knowledge on a couple of questions...
Which car is the best introducer to the world of TVR - Tamora or Tuscan? (if Tuscan what version). Have budget of around £25k.
I am based in Kent - which dealerships do you recommend - and which should I avoid - and why?? Visited Racing Green yesterday and was impressed - but is a bit of a trek.
Any other advice??

I visited Dream Machines in Heathfield (East Sussex) yesterday to test drive a Griffith. They couldn't have been more helpful and they even let me test drive an Elise as well 
even though I didn't intend to buy one (not enough baggage space for my significant other!). Its a bit of trek down there though for me from Dover though!
I also visted Walldonway in Maidstone, who although are no longer franchised TVR dealers have a couple of very nice looking Tuscans, a T350, a Tamora and still do servicing a body repairs so their definitely worth a trip. The guy was very friendly as well.

Drop ncs an email and pop along to the Kent TVRcc meet, lots of people there with various models of the Tuscan and the odd Tamora drops in...I think there's a meet planned for Bank Holiday Monday at the Woodman Ide Hill.

Have a Tuscan myself and my son has recently bought a Tamora!!
As the others advise, get down to the next TVR meet organised by They are a great bunch of guys and gals and always have time for TVR virgins.
Everyone will take great pleasure in showing you around their cars and you will probably be offered a run out in some of the cars.
Business permitting, I'll be at Woodman and would be delighted to show you around the best colour Tuscan in the world....Crystal Topaz of course

Thanks. Have had a really good conversation with ncs and have already 'suggested' to Mrs K that we are going to a havely a lovely day out in Ide Hill with a BBQ on the bank holiday - and a 'couple' of TVR owners might be there... Lool forward to meeting you there!

I remember a trip down to Dream Machines around Mayish time last yr. I think it was actually my first test drive of a Sagaris, went down in the Griff, purely to blag a ride in this new Uber TVR, which frankly I thought looked a bit naff. Anyway, met an older codger down there selling his red Griff 500 and he said he just didnt use it anymore. Loved the car, but he was older now, had sensiblish cars and just found he didnt use the car like it sould and might aswell sell it and somebody else could get better use out of it. I couldnt believe he would trade in a perfect good Griffith, I remember telling him he was nuts and that it would be a cold day in hell before I got rid of my Griffith.
I think I signed the paperwork on a f**cking freezing day in hell about a month later for my 'Gris!

From what I have seen, the Tamora seems to be cheaper second hand than an equivalent Tuscan.
Out of all the TVRs I've driven, I liked the Tamora the most. The clutch is the best I've ever used, in any car, and the steering superb. The new Tuscan convertible is very similar, by which I mean that I can't tell the difference. Performance is ample and the roadholding and grip is so good that it made me feel as if I could drive.
Women love the Tamora's shape as well, even when one is driven by a fat old bloke.
The only problem I experienced was putting the roof into the boot. Although, to be fair, when I returned the car to Dream Machines (after 4 hours) the chap there slotted it in without problem so it is a knack. Later models had a larger boot opening which, I assume, would make it easier. I can't say I am overly enthusiastic about the contra-rotating dials, nor the digital display, but that's about it for downsides.
An absolutely fabulous car. If only I could afford to buy and run one.

Hi Mark - I would thoroughly recommend the Tamora, and the dealer I bought from, Dream Machines. Get yourself down there and arrange to test drive both cars, best way to decide
I think the Tamora must be one of the rarer models around - not that you see many TVR's anyway - but any meet you go to (except for a Tamora meet
) they are usually the minority, so if you like the fact you've very unlikely to see another one when driving in yours, this is a plus. Putting roof in boot does take some practice, but you can alleviate the situation with a few washers.
I love the interior, the dials, the controls, performance, noise, ride, handling, the whole package -I think it is a great car, and for £25k you should be able to get a good un, preferably from a dealer with proper warranty cover.
And if you really want to have a full on TVR weekend, why not come along to this meet on Sunday - unusually there should be 2 Tams there, and a Tuscan:
