Is my car mica red??

I need to get some touch up paint for some scratches, and not sure what the 'official' colour or paint code is....

It's a sort of burgundy metallic (pic on profile)

Hi Mike - trust you are all well, saw your car on HP's Profile , looks nice,I especially like the interior colour.
I went through the necessary to find out my colour and the following may help, I'm assuming you do have a VIN plate under the bonnet and the Paint code is shown.Mine was P422-1782B, the P422 was the paint type (Flat or Metallic) and the 1782B was the ICI Paint Code, apparently TVR didn't always stick to the rule and sometimes the code didn't match the numbers, not very helpful !
If you can get the code, contact PPG (Autocolour)tel. [phone] and give them the details, don't bother with Halfords, although they have an ICI colour chart it bears no resemblance to what you want.

Hi John,
Thanks for the help deciphering the lingo on the vin plate. Mine says under body code "P422 PG43" I don't have anything to go on other than these numbers. Mind you, I suppose TVR could have called it Mica Red, cabbage red or whatever, it's the numbers that matter...

I'm still keeping me eyes out for a project if you know what I mean.....

My emails have been playing up a bit lately, and have gone back to outlook express rather than incredimail so will fire you another. I did send a test email via incredimail but wouldn't be surprised if you didn't get it, what a shower they were.

Hi Mike
Dont know if its the picture but your car looks darker than my old S which was mica red.
You should be able to get the paint code from a chap on here called something like PVN I think. We both migrated to the Chim forum at the same time.
He works with the chap I sold my car too, which has a small bottle of paint in the glove box with the code on it.
So if you dont get any joy you can compare numbers.

Had a problem matching my Mica Red,rang TVR with the chassis number,they confirmed it was Toyota Mica Red,after mixing several shades,all of them were miles out, I trawled through the book of chips to start a fresh,eventually a good match was found with guess what another Mica Red but this time it was a Ford colour with only two shades.
