Hi guys,

I have obviously had too much time on my hands as I have been thinking of what modifications I would do next to my GTO-3.

Now don't get me wrong I love it to bits and it's performance, but I have always had to play with the cars I have owned in the past. I am fully aware that a good way to invest my money is to improve my driving and I have done and will continue to do so.

At present my car has had the intakes moved to the rear intercooler box and a hard pipe kit fitted along with a BOV by Vegantune. My next logical step is to get a LSD fitted. Once this has been done I'm not sure what I want to do next.

Can anyone give some advice based on their past experience.

I have noted through reading the forum that some people have had their vehicles remapped. Will the engine cope with this with the standard internals?

Any advice would be much appriciated!!

James

P.S. I still can't get over how much fun this car can be!!!!

Yes you are!

But you're right, the FP intercooler is a "must have".

Martin.

Colour coded door handles are also an essential mod.

Think mine may be the only ones in existance though.

Actually, as of a few cars ago, its now standard. (or at least the 3R on the stand at the motorshow had them painted. Lee N, you can buy me a pint sometime.

Nothing to do with extra power if you have the 5 speed box fitted.

LSD, Nitrons or Ohlins, lighter wheels, the Plans AP disk upgrade, VeganTune Brake cooling mod whould be a decent start IMO.

a remap on the 3.0 can yield 360 - 380 bhp and will make the car much stronger

however - it may be best to change the exhaust and intercooler first

if you are prepared to take the engine apart and fit bigger turbo's steel rods and stronger valve springs you could see over 500 bhp

the real thing holding back the power for most owners is the gearbox - 400 lb/ft seems to be the number that breaks them

I'm actually working on a project to develop a stronger gearbox right now - I will release details when the time is right

5 speed is rated to 350lb/ft, you may be able to get away with more due to the Noble being lighter than the original application I guess?

Thanks for all the replies so far fellas.

It would seem that I should save my pennies and get the box done and the LSD at the same time, then start thinking about extra power!!

Anyone know what sort of power gains the Roush exhaust(or others) can give or is it purely an improvement in sound and quality?

James.

Cooling is a big issue here mate, especially if you go with extra power. A performance intercooler is a must yes
As for exhausts, for the ultimate in straight through go, have a look at Paul C's !
Many of the guys with the Roush one have experienced considerable gains in go. There's some noise issues they're still working out tho!
As mine's in bits at the mo, I'm building an exhaust with Matt. The current available ones ar for 3's (mine's a 2.5) Needless to say it will be the best one by miles hehe paperbag

As the engine's out, i'm taking the opportunity to add an oil cooler and some extra ducting to both the front turbo and the front brakes. I'm also plumbing in a fire extinguisher...you can't be too careful after all.
I'll keep posting pics as I go !

With modifications, it all depends what you're after.
Nathan is quite correct that you'll take seconds off lap times with nitrons/ohlins, dymags and a set of 048's. you'll take harly any time off with extra power.

not sure how experienced a track driver you are, but we normally always end up saying to make yourself a quicker driver it's usually the squidgy thing behind the wheel that needs the money spending on it !! I took some time with Don Palmer at brunters and have also done some training at Millbrook and a few track days. I didn't consider myself to be a slow track driver to start with, but the difference it made to my lap times was amazing!! Am yet to do a Walshy day, but have heard that the boy is the business !

there's always nitrous of course.........

Cool! Would like to see some pictures of the splitter.

Pop some up or e-mail them to me and I'll pop them up.

Cheers

Looks great!

I think mine gets scraped too much to risk doing that though.

Funnily enough that is why it was sprayed, The splitter cracked and rather than buy new, it was repaired and sprayed!!
