My 996 has developed electrical problem. Driving home tonight lost headlights, could use main beam if I held the stalk in, air con fan, wipers, HRW also not working. Stereo, elec seats, brake, boot and side lights OK.

It's dark so not had chance to check the fuses yet but if anybody's got any thoughts where problem might be I'd be grateful.

Thanks in advance

Barry

The fuses for the circuits you mention are in banks A C D & E. Doesn't appear to be a common fuse rail. Could be water ingress if you've had mad rain like we have down here.

Thanks for the thought, it's in the garage tonight so see if it dries out in the morning. If it is ingress the next problem will be tracing it. Are there any common areas to look at.

For the record I had 4 happy years with a TVR and should state that it only had a couple of minor electrical problems. No offence intended to Tiver's. The worlds a better place with cars like TVR.

For future interst in case anybody else has the same problem. Been diagnosed as a faulty ignition switch. Temporary solution to move the key back a mm or so. £40-50 from freindly independant and about an hour to fit. Mentioned the symptoms to Northway and they'd seen the exact same combination before.

Why are you folks complaining - I reckon the Sally Carrera thing is doing a lot to endear Pork to a wider audience who may respect the cars for their engineering and heritage, but also think of them as a bit cold and soulless (particularly the water-cooled generation). Heck - Top Gear put Sally into their 'Top 10 Sexiest Cars'...

You might even find yourselves get let out of side streets more often now... hehe

Tvr's may be fast, and loud, and sexy.

But no use for long distances.

The tow truck drivers refuse to go more than 200 miles

On the electrics issue sounds like a prob with the fuse board, check for water ingress.
