Hi all,
I am very tempted to buy a 348ts, but wanted to know what i am letting myself in for first.
Can anyone out there shed some light on what my likely expenditures will be over the year. (I know, "a piece of string")
Thanks
Ochea

Ochea,
Have a search through the Ferrari Forum Topic's as this has been a popular question in the past.
Good luck

Check out Ferrarichat.com
Running cost should be around £2000.00 per year depending on servicing and wear.

there is loads under just "348"

It really depends on the car, get as late as you can afford & look at lots as they vary a lot. Like all cars you get good ones & bad ones. Assuming no bodywork/very bad things happening then as Justin says expect around £2000 a year.

Typical costs:
oil change at specialist around £250
Main service £500+
Clutch £700+
Tyres £250 each
Cambelt change (every 2 years on early cars/3 years on post 93 cars) £1200+

Buy the best you see, get it checked & get a warranty.

Craig,
Do you mean "348" as a subject search on a search engine?

I've heard some stories about people paying up to £8k for a service. How likely is this to happen, because it really puts me off. If i was hit with such a big bill it could be disatorous, i could handle £2k-£3k, but £8k, i might have to sell the car.

It's highly unlikely a service will ever cost £8k. I think someone's telling you porkies

Its funny you should say that as i am thinking of either a tuscan/cerbera or a 348 next year.
How much should you keep aside for a tuscan/cerbera each year, i Know they say as a general rule that you shoulk keep about £2-£3k for a 348

In terms of reliability and costs im afraid the 348 was regarded as one of the worst. Never well made to start off with.

Get a good one??? well thats not easy, not for a reason to main dealers not stock 348s!!!

I have done quite a bit of resaerch on here and there seems to be a lot of happy owners of 348's and not many dissapointed ones, there also seems to be quite a few who say that they have been really reliable. I know they dont have the best reputation and that is why they are so cheap, but i love them

Yes,I'm another happy (ex) owner.

As has said before, get a good one or dont bother.

Laughably,my only 'problem' was a on a 10 hour drive in the rain, the cooling system was too efficient. The oil got below 60 degrees and I had to occasionally boot it to get it back to its hundred mark.

For an entry level ferrari,I thought it was superb.

I would budget 2 to 2.5k for everything apart from insurance.

If you buy a mint car, you'll want to keep it that way.

well my own experience with a cerb, based on say 10k + miles a year is at least 3K, probably a little more.

Although I'm sure a 355 is a lot more reliable, it's also a lot more money to buy. I've heard good things about 348's and think that it is miligned unfairly.

I'd like one ....

I have heard that the later ones are better, why is this? is it because they are more reliable?

Apparent electronic gremlins were targeted and also revised engine management also IIRC
Bits of cosmetic too.
