Here comes another suitably stupid question from ManchesterDude for all the experts out there...

My Boxster is not garaged and simply lives on my driveway(I dont have a garage), uncovered and exposed to the rigours of Britains inconsistent climate. In the North West it seems to have rained quite heavily the last week and a half and it is making me wonder what damage, if any, this constant rain is doing to my car?

Am I crazy not having a cover? Considering the weather is only gonna be getting worse now over the next 6 months I would like to know what, if any, action I should take.

Thanks

none - did not harm my Boxster at all over the 2 years it was parked on the street (admittedly in tropical London)

the hood will lose its waterproofness (new word?) but this does no harm - the water will bead on a new hood

this can be re-done by buying some Scotchguard spray which I applied twice a year

Answer to the first part is that your car will be getting wet. The answer to the second part is buy an umbrella.

Seriously though, it's a Porsche not a Ferrari. Just wash it regularly and wax it occasionally and enjoy.

The only meteorological comment I can give is this - if your car gets wet whilst drivin in the rain then you put it away in a garage, it will then stand there in damp conditions doing it no good.
If you leave it out the air will circulate round it and underneath and will not get damp.
Or... after its finished rainin you could always get a hairdryer on it and dry it off laugh

I've found this to be a common concern voiced by Boxter owners. I wouldn't worry about it too much, a bit of gel or similar "product" applied with the tips of the fingers will get rid of the frizziness. Alternative, buy a hat.

Ours is the same and it has been thoroughly soaked over the last couple of days.
