Anyone have any times for porsches around regular circuits. Most interested in GT3 both RS and stock MK1 and MK11. I mostly want to know UK circuits, such as Brands and Oulton. I cant find anything anywhere on the internet.

I trying to make a comparison to my race 968, just curious how good a track car it is. Thinking of selling it as a road/track car, but want to know how good it really is at these sorts of cicuits before i invest in converting it back to the road.

thanks guys

You might try asking this question on the Titanic GT3 mailing list. (www.titanic.co.uk)

Problem is that you are not allowed to lap time on track days as lap timing invalidates the organisers (and your own) insurance so I doubt you will see anyone admitting to it even if they have timed themselves...

good to see you at silverstone could not make snett as brakes were on the metal...scoured the discs....but as you say timing not on...but GT3 should be quicker than a race 968 even if it is on slicks..

Hope this is of use but a 968 club sport running to what use to be Porsche Cup spec is around the same as a 3.2 carrera running the same spec. ie standard hp plus 5%. A 996 GT3 will and should be considerably quicker. At a rough guess Oulton 968CS 1.57, GT3 1.47, hope this is usefull.

IIRC last year while we were at Spa, the GT3's (road) were lapping about 15-20 secs a lap quicker than Alex Eacock in his 2.5 8v 944 (class 4 car)
So how mucg quicker is the class 1 968 than a class 4 944?

I'd have thought on twisty circuits the 968 race car would be quicker than a gt3 road car.

My best time round the Brands Indy circuit is a 0.51 and generally run 0.52`s sub 0.50 is possible but hard

Donnington this year our best time was around 1.14 (which is usually almost exactly the same as Snetterton).

Oulton park (full) 1.48

Silverstone GP circuit the fastest my car has been is 2.01 but you will not be able to repeat that. 2.05 - 2.10 would be a good benchmark.

Spa if I remember was around 2.45.

All times for our 2001 Mk 1 GT3 cup car running about 5 stone of ballast !

Hope that helps.

Cant imagine that a road gt3 is doing 1.14 in snett.... the touring cars are doing 1.13 last week in the race...

You can find lap times over the past six years for the Porsche Club race cars (including 968) at www.msdpcgb.co.uk in the archive section. I was really hoping they would also have laptimes for the road cars entered in the Speed Championship at Brands Hatch the last two years (of which there were several GT3) but alas those times aren't there

Comparing a GT3 cup car with a 968 racecar will obviously see the GT3 well ahead, but I think with a road GT3 it will be much closer

I seem to remeber that there were some threads on here a while ago that had people quoting 2:40's for their road GT3's at spa... hmm...

I think I know the thread you are on about but that was talking about cup cars on slicks again.

A standard GT3 at Spa on track day tyres will be in the 2:50s with a reasonable driver - I was talking to another owner about it this year...
