Before taking my x-flow powered 7'look-alike' to a rolling road, the opperator has advised me to get a non-vacum advance distributor to suit the twin DCOE's and BCF2 cam. They seem to be out of stock everywhere I look. Is there anyone out there who has one they are willing to part with?

Removal of the vacuum advance will mess up power delivery under WOT (wide open throttle)and part throttle. Its an integral part of the distributor and shouldnt be removed as youll not get the full advance required to burn the fuel/air mix correctly.
Unless your using an electronic management system to time the spark, i cant see what positive point is to be had removing the vac capsule.
Itll also affect fuel consumption detrimentally.

Simply removing the vacuum advance would do this, but
you can get distributors that are modified to give full advance using the internal weights, which work better than trying to run the vacuum advance from one inlet on a twin DCOE set up. Tried that once and the advance was all over the place!

Traditional solution with X-Flows was to use the Lotus twin cam dizzy which runs without vacuum advance, but the advance curve isn't quite right. Best to try and get a dizzy matched to the cam. If you can find one...

Aldon make a dizzie to suit the advance needed by the cam, but I can't find one in stock anywhere. If I could find a standard Lucas unit for the x-flow it can be modified, but even these are hard to come by. I have two Motorcraft units but these can't be modified in the same way.

Have you tried Aldon Automotive directly? Don't have their contact details handy, but you can probably find them on the Internet.

Holden Vintage & Classic do a lot of Lucas stuff. www.holden.co.uk Could also try www.a-stafford.co.uk

I have been trying to get hold of a Lucus dizzy drive gear since November. Lucas have stopped making them hence no new dizzys. Your best bet would be to find an old one and get Aldons to build it for you. Having said that the gains may not be as great as folk lore would suggest. Having been here with a 3/4 race Pinto, and my own 1380 fast road crossflow.
For my money I would try it with the standard one first, provided it is in good nick. Other wise you cpould be hunting for quite a while.
