Smolenski plans to build 60 Typhoons!
Discussion
Hi there
Just read an article with an interview of Mr Smolenski in swiss Autorevue in which he says TVR is planning a limmited Edition run of 60 Typhoons for its 60th birthday next year. He also says they are planning to return to Lemans, probably with the new Cerbera that should be presented in Geneva next year. Now that is great news!
Cheers Jens

Great news that the company is working it's way forward and that new models are on their way ...
.... that said, I have a question for the knowledgable out there.
This is the only picture I can find that's reproducable of the Typhoon:
I know it's only a model, but:
is this a faithful reproduction of the planned car, and,
doesn't the length of the bonnet seem to mean that the engine will be mounted very far forward throwing off the balance?

That is a Typhon / T400 / T440. The engine is mounted behind the front wheels as with all TVR's.

It is the spit image of our T440R, apart from the wheels which are grey.
The car is well balanced - and effortlessly fast.
NB: Typhon, not Typhoon.

talking about typhons whatever happened to the sequential gearbox that im guessing had a lot of money spent on it being developed?
DJC by internals do you mean the powertrain (different engine gearbox) or the parts to be placed within the speed six itself?

Wait and see.

I get the feeling I've just asked a question that I shouldn't have. Does this mean that no-one has any pictures and that many have been asking for them?
OK, let me try it again and see if we can piece the evidence together...
The fabled Typhon is/was essentially a T400/T440 with a supercharged engine.
So apart from what was under the bonnet, it was going to look the same as a T400/T440.
There are therefore photos, drawings, scalextric models and all sorts of images of the T400/T440 (visually a Typhon) available.
rpa.janwell owns a T440R.
We can therefore conclude that if he wanted a photo of what a Typhon is meant to look like, all he has to do is take a snap of what's sitting in his driveway. If he wants a drawing, then so long as his artistic skills are up to scratch, then he can do a nifty sketch of his own car.

so if he builds 60 T440R's thats enough to homoliganate (sp) the race cars so they can start to run with proper air restrictors. Is TVR going to make a comback to racing with the T440's
Small point - there won't be any more T440R's built - there is only one. If anything is built, they will be Typhons.

Would you mind explaining the difference as TVR was never particularly clear? Your t440 was the first, but what's the reflex charcoal car?
I thought a Typhon was going to be a supercharged t440 (and obviously the RC car is normally asperated).
