I've visited this forum a few times but today I decided to join. I've always liked fast cars but now i'm at a stage in my life where I need to be a bit careful with money. A house and then a buy-to-let means I can't justify an expensive car.
I used to have a Pug 205 which I had an MI16 engine fitted. Complete with twin 45's and fast road everything. No expense spared and as far as I know the second conversion ever (1st on carbs) but it was worth every penny. At the time, back in 1996, it pretty much whipped anything - and the beauty was it looked standard, apart from being lowered.
But it was expensive to maintain. Broken driveshafts mainly but in the end it was not much quicker than standard hot hatches. So I got myself a Fiat Coupe Turbo. Loved it. Not quite as fast as the Pug of the line but after 60 -70 it was awesome. So much torque. Not the best handling but for the money not much touches them. I got a VW beach buggy around 5 years ago which I have just sold to my cousin. Great fun but too slow.
So now i've got a Midtec Spyder. You're probably wondering what it is. It's a kit car dsigned by Lee Noble (Noble cars) which is mid engined, rear wheel drive and only a go kart is lower. Mine's a 2 litre Renault engine so it's pretty quick and turns heads just as much as the buggy.
I live near a town centre and someone thought it would be clever to key my Fiat Coupe along one side of the car. And someone else kicked the side another time (jealousy I expect). So it had to go. I've now got a Alfa Romeo 145 which I don't mind being kicked, scratched or even walked on.
My plan for the future is to buy a house a bit further from town with a garage (maybe double length/width) so that I can buy a nice car without worrying about it. Any Noble fan will have noticed my username.
2 reasons, I want to buy a Noble M400 and because I own the registration mark. Noble themselves own M10 NML,M12 NBL and M15 NBL, or at least they advertise the lates on their site. So I was surprised to see the registration mark for sale on Ebay while searching for Noble (I also noticed and bought the Midtec while searching for Noble)and put an offer in which he accepted.
So that's where I am with my life as far as cars goes. 4 or 5 years should be enough time to buy a bigger house and justify paying quite a lot for a car.
Anyway, I look forward to chatting to some of you.

Very kind of you. Gonna spend some time reading the Noble forum. It will be interesting to hear what owners think of them. It's one thing for a journalist to give an opinion after driving one for a few hours and quite another for those driving theirs regularly.
The cousin I sold my buggy to wants to buy an Ultima. I think they are the quickest production car to 0-100-0. Anyone had any run ins with one o a track in their Noble?
