Hi guys,

I love listening to the engines sound track but am looking at changing the speakers in my car. I believe they are the standard Sony units and they are pants. Can anyone give advice on the best ones to replace them!!

What ever sounds better. Would there be much of a difference?

In general, component speakers sound better, however, it is a bit more of a pain to install, since you have a separate tweeter.

Basically, the sky's the limit.

If you want to go with a basic component speaker system, I'd sugges the Alpine SPX-177R components (which cost $190 in the US). I always liked the way those Vifa XT19 concentric radiating ring neodymium tweeters sounded in home theater (and these are only slightly modified). The off-axis dispersion and upper end detail is supposed to be great. I like them a lot on some home theater speakers, like the AV123 Onix Reference.

The mid drivers are modified wood-pulp Vifa XT18 based. Crossover is supposed to be pretty competent as well.



If you want to stay with coax, the Focal 165CV are pretty good. They're what I ended up going with on my Noble



I also picked up some light foam baffles to keep moisture off of them.

Again, if your budget is unlimited, there are definitely better choices.

For instance, the Focal Utopia Be No.7 is excellent.

JL Audio Componants are better......but cosy more!

I would definatly reccomend using an Amp if you want real clarity.
