Apparently it is not uncommon, but mine has snapped in half. They cost a fortune compared with older and newer models. Any reason why I can't use a 964 or 996/7 wiper arm, which is about £65 cheaper?

Sorry, my source was wrong! Anyway, earlier models and later models have a simple 1 piece system, whereas the 993 has a two piece arm that is much more expensive. Any reason why I can't use a one piece arm? Do they actually fit?

Do you use the wiper?

It would look much nicer without it IMHO.

A little tip with rear wipers on 964 & 993 models.

When you lift the wiper up to clean the car make sure you are careful placing it back down on the rear screen. It is very easy to get the blade trapped between the two halves of the main arm. As soon as you operate the wiper it will then snap the arm at the top.

On 996 model cars be careful when placing the arm back on the windscreen as you can easily dig the end of the blade into the rear quarter panel / roof support.

We see no end of cars where the above has happened.
