I've noticed that this year's Cannonball is gathering momentum on the publicity front.

Only seen the event on the telly but appears to be a bunch of rich kids who have no knowldge of the cars they drive or how to drive them nor any appreciation of motor sport.

The sanest team was the Jackass Jag!

I'm planning on buying a Ferrari this year and I'm currently taking the trouble to talk to owners of similar cars. On the whole, most of those I've spoken to strike me as being the complete opposite to this. They are considerate and highly skilled .

So, tell me please - Are the Cannonballers over-rich idiots who give the genuine enthusiast a bad name or have they been misrepresented?

Over to you!

I take it you're talking about the Gumball 3000 not the Cannonball Europe bash.

Can't offer you any actual experience, however, I did a little research into it a couple of years ago but was to late to apply. The impression I got from talking to competitors doing it though was that yes they were wealthy, some a little eccentric, but most were passionate about their cars and were a great laugh!

Also it might be worth talking to PHer Lonman, he did last years in an SL55 AMG.
