Hi guys I'm new here although I've had an early dash model 944 for 5 years now.

Just looking for friends, advice and ideas.

Hope you don't mind me popping in

Greetings.

I like old dash 944's. In fact I wish I still owned one.

Thanks for the welcomes

The help I need at the moment is that she wont start. She has been sat up off the road for a long time but the problem started on the way home once upon a time.

I was driving home and she just died. I have changed the rotor arm, dizzy cap, plugs and leads. I'm sure (but not 100%) I changed the coil too.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

I hope someone'll be along with some spanners in a bit.

Try the fuel pump relay and/or the DME relay, although something like this could be a number of things.

As for the fuel relay, should I actually be able to hear the pump prime when i switch the ignition on??

A pro photographer always removes the tax disc holder, cleans up the lines! Nice looking 44 you have there, good colour. I'll second the DME theory, that is quite likely, the other potential causes of a non start is a failed ignition switch and an old alarm, immobiliser gone wrong.

When you say prime, what sound do you here? I remember my old 944's fuel pump would make a very faint hum at idle, but not without the engine running.
The fuel pump does fail occasionaly, and a sign of this is that the pump can get noisier before it fails. It's no big deal to replace.

Nice car btw ,any idea as to the colour?

Any excuse to post a picture of my old hearing aid beige 944! I still miss it
